For Sale Plymouth Fury III 1971 - $8500

Thank you for the thorough response. I see a similar opinion on looks from others, including @saforwardlook, but like Steve and Dave I do see one major difference in favor of the 1971's: they have the torsion quiet ride, which the 1970's don't have. On a more minor note, in the case of the...

Resurrection of my 1970 Chrysler 300 Convertible

Another odd thing I noticed was that I couldn't bolt up the dimmer switch or the parking brake cable cover. It was almost as if the cable was 4 inches too short. I tried loosening up the adjustment, but the casing was just not long enough. I broke out the FSM and checked the fitment. The...

For Sale body Bushing kit for 1973 Plymouth Fury 3, 4 door, 7.2 440 motor

Polyurethane bushings won't go in any of my cars. I like the torsion quiet ride, not a banging, harsh, noisy one. I used just some polyurethane strut bushings in one of my 1970 C bodies once and it ruined the cars whole demeanor. They let me know every bump in the road with a crashing thud -...

    For Sale 1970 Polara

For Plymouth it is, but Dodge and Chrysler got the rubber isolator set-up in 1970, didn't they? Have a gander at the below from the 1970 Dodge Polara showroom brochure/catalogue ("Torsion-Quiet Ride" sounds rather exotic. RAWTHER I say....):

    1969 - 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe)

Dammit, svent, I found this old article you wrote for Classic Mopar Forum. This sums up everything in one neat, easily understandable format. I'm reprinting it here with apologies if need be. 1969 – 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe) By sevnt300 There seems to be alot of mystery and mis...

    This kid is hip,,,69 Newport

My criticism is more about his spouting off maintenance or repair issues as if they were simply the standard in 19xx. Yep, you had to pump the pedal a dozen times because the choke had not yet been invented. Nor had self canceling turn signals. A '66 Chevy handles better because all Chrzlers...

    Priceless. I love this Forum.

    1969 - 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe)

1969 and 1970 Plymouth V8 frames are the same, they have a shorter hex welded in the rear part of the frame to accommodate the shorter torsion bars. This is the only difference between the 69 - 70 Dodge and Chrysler Rigid Mount frames. Plymouth waited until 1971 to switch to the Torsion Quiet...

    1969 - 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe)

Thanks, Brian. I now own a collection of stub frames, 1969 Polara, 1970 2dr coupe and 1970 convertible, this is great information and confirms what I'm seeing. I'm interested in seeing the differences between the ridgid and torsion quiet radiator core supports. There seems to be different core...

    1969 - 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe)

All 1969 -1970 Fury’s have rigid mount stub frames, they did not switch to Torsion Quiet Ride until 1971 so the answer is yes, all C bodies were Torsion Quiet frames in 1971 however Fury’s were still different from the Chrysler and Dodge models due to the shorter torsion bars. The whole C body...

    For Sale 1970 chrysler 300 convertible - $2000

I justed looked at the stub pics and it may be a little to kinked for me. I am sure I can find one if I keep watching. Just to add more confusion that article said the 1970 convertible were solid and that police ones were solid. Does anyone know if the hurst 300's were the silent or quiet...

    1969 - 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe)

There seems to be alot of mystery and mis information regarding the front forestructure (stub frame) on the 1969-1971 Chrysler C bodies as to which will fit which and what will bolt up to what. It’s pretty simple really, there are the rigidly mounted stub frames that bolt directly to the body...

    1969 - 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe)

Excellent work, svent300! I have been asked numerous times, "will a stub frame from a ___ fit into my ___?". And I never knew the answer. When you write for the 1970 model year, "Plymouth hardtops and sedans still used the same stub frame from 1969 to accommodate the Fury’s shorter torsion...

For Sale '71 Fury GT: Real or clone?

February, 2016 - Jeff Koch In the pony- and mid-sized maelstrom of American car performance that was winding down by the early '70s, the cars that brought the full-size performance game to the table had all but been forgotten. Hardcore Pontiacs had disappeared, Chevy pulled the SS option from...

    1969 - 1971 C body Stub Frame (subframe)

Rigidity and strength is the exact reason. All A, B, C and E body convertibles have extra supports to try to make up for the lack of the roof support. I assume that 1970 wagons use the rigid mount for extra strength which obviously wasn't needed due to the 1971's being fitted with the TQ frames...

Edge guards being standard on convertibles is gonna make me have to look that up. I'm not calling you on it, but I'm not signing up to it either. Until I check.

Just trying to put this in perspective, what is an "EV2"? If it is special, wait for the right stub, it will come along. In a few months I will have a rust free, but slightly kinked one from my 70 Vert, but I'd guess that would do you no good. Look for a 1969 Polara 4dr, 2dr or station wagon...
