old and new Thermostat tests with questions

guess you answered your own question....yes a 160 themostat will open a lot sooner than a 195...now the next question is "why did it have a 160 ?" many times folks will put in a lower temp thermostat in an attempt to "cure" an overheating issue caused by something else...so you may have an...

    1971 300

The 440 non HP w/o knowing Block, cyl head, crankshaft condition value w/ correct date codes maybe 500.00. Transmission complete w/ convertor core value 200.00. Other missing pieces carb , trans crossmember, alt-starter do impact the overall value.

    1971 300

A decent core would be worth $500, core with issues, idk, depends on how good you are with mechanicals. If this is a complete car with all the pieces and decent sheet metal it’s worth gathering it all together. Take inventory and see what’s missing, you can always decide what to do later on...

Voyager 1 and 2 still alive!!!! 38,000 mph!

As to the original subject of this thread the following quote from BBC - Astronomy may be of interest: "Reaching the outer planets with a spacecraft is difficult because these worlds are so far away, billions of miles, and would take decades to reach. However, using the gravitational pull of a...

Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

From what I've been able to put together, Q9 is for Sentinal lighting, but the tag in the first post doesn't have Q9 but it does have sentinal lighting (see pic post 9). And I have j0 being TT column, which the car has and is also on the tag. Regarding the 1967 vs 1968 tags - did the '67 tags...

    Electronic ignition conversion tips

Sounds like I've got a lot of options, prob go with MoPar kit. Planning first road trip with my car. Admit to being nervous...untouched motor/trans in car that was hauled home from a junkyard. Bad, uncared for shape a nice way to put it. It's come a long way but just local trips since I...

Is a 70 service manual basically the same as a 69 service manual? Also looking for a good RH mirror and crate engine builder...

Which State are you in? Plenty of local cars running 440s, a few with Hemi engines as well, both second generation and modern versions. Bergamin Brothers in SA are well known for their big power engine builds. Another option is Eagle Auto Parts in Melbourne: ChryslerMoparEngines.

Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

Does anyone know what Q9 is a code for? The online decoders indicate "Sentinel lighting", but my '68 300 doesn't have that option. I thought maybe tilt/telescopic since I couldn't account for that one (or power antenna) anywhere else on the fender tag? I see above that it's decoded as j0, but I...

Pair of 1968 300's tag decode

I looked at the comments here and concur on the additions and corrections stated with the exception of downplaying the importance of the sequence number on the lower right and the VIN number in terms of production information. While not as important as other codes mentioned here, both are...

IMHO, there's enough changes from 1969 to 1970 that buying a FSM would be a good idea. For example, they made some changes to the charging system. The cost for a thumb drive or CD of the FSM is really not that much. I've bought a few from this vendor. 1969 Chrysler CD Shop Manual 69...
