Pulling rear drum on my 57 Belvedere, which one?

I've had Mopars for 60 years and have never had a problem with the newer axles. Get rid of the old style and you will not be sorry. The newer ones are so much easier to work on and the brakes are better too.

How crispy do you like it?

I cut out the ammeter wires and made a little connector wire with alligator clips to check the amps and turned it over when it started slightly smoking again. The wires get nuclear almost immediately so I'm going to go with the engine bay bypass solution. What is the step by step so I don't lose...

How crispy do you like it?

Too much volts/amps for a fuse. Maybe a circuit breaker but why? Solder the two wires together, run the bypass to the starter relay, and forget the ammeter. That said, I didn't use a fusible link, but you can run a fusible link in the charge wire. Usually a fusible link is 4 gauge sizes...

    New Yorker trim removal

I need to take the quarter panel trim off my '70 New Yorker 2dr. It looks like there are some white moulding clips holding it on. Does the trim just snap on and off these clips or does it have to be unbolted inside the car?

Pulling rear drum on my 57 Belvedere, which one?

My little brother has a late 60's Pontiac and while he was driving he looks over his shoulder to see his axle about 2' out tire, wheel and all!

Pulling rear drum on my 57 Belvedere, which one?

I haven’t tried this, but I’ve read you can loosen the nuts by one turn and drive the car in a figure 8 to pop the hubs loose. Worth a try.

    Welcome, samandw

Thanks for the welcome! Do I have a story for y'all! One upon a time, there was a man that I had the great privilege of meeting shortly before he passed away in his late 80's. He was an avid collector of, well everything, but especially cars, and really anything with an engine. Among his...

    Correct small-block (318) engine color for 1967 C-body?

As far as I know all 67 small blocks were red. I think the only paint engine shops had in the 80s was Ford blue. Alan

    Correct small-block (318) engine color for 1967 C-body?

I'm guessing that when the polysphere's got retired in 1966 (or a year later in Canada) that the LA blocks were also painted red? Even if a lot of C-bodys didn't get small blocks in '67, for those other A/B/E body cars that did, again I assume that the 318's were red? My rebuilt 318 (circa...

Pulling rear drum on my 57 Belvedere, which one?

I purchased the three-finger economy model from Amazon plus three more fingers so as to have a five-finger puller. It does fit the 64 tapered 8-3/4 rear quite fine with all five fingers. But, it don't just jump right on to the axle shaft either. PROPER installation is in order. I snug it up to...

How crispy do you like it?

All the cars power runs through the ammeter, it would have to be quite a large amperage fuse. The underhood bypass is a great option to lighten the load running into the car

Leaky Rear Window - '66 Newport

My 65 SF rear window had some mild rust issues (same rear glass/gasket as you have). I've had good luck with this, it goes on wiht a small paintbrush (you supply it, IIRC it's not a brush-in-can). BUT - you'll need to decide if removing the rear glass/gasket and cleaning/painting the metal...
