Got my 66 383 block back from the machine shop

I think you are just fine. I would definitely clean up the casting flash in the lifter valley.

    Bastardized 1959 "Coronet" build

A little digging around Corvette forums and turns out the traction control system will do this if the wheel/tire size has been changed... Guess what I did... Yup put C5 front wheels/tires on the rear to clear the 1959 sheet metal... Root cause found....

    4 speed driving issues

That's what I was thinking about hte carb being too big, if it's on the edge of the off-idle transition slots (due to some mis-tuning?) it might make some surging that you wouldn't feel with an AT because the torque converter absorbs it. With a MT, that cushion is missing. (@LocuMob - that's...

    Bastardized 1959 "Coronet" build

No codes other than the one for the air pump I removed on purpose.... I think I may have stumbled onto the root cause... It happened again today and I pulled off the road, engine idling but no throttle then as quick as it left, it came right back. Normal throttle and I drove away... Then I...

    Will this be a problem?

I believe it is for cooling the motor and I would not run without it.

you don't want to hone the lifter bores just to hone them. too much clearance will cause low oil pressure at idle. the lifters should be checked to make sure they slide in before honing. they should have cleaned up the oil return slots a lot of rough metal that might break off.

    Remember when?

Folks here cried they wanted a political forum. It's really not hard to understand where to post political reply's. It really isn't.

73 Monaco followed me home yesterday.

That is not what the Red X means. It means I disagree. If you can not handle a disagreement than you probably shouldn't interact with people. Some cars kept their original wheels. Hell some kept their original tires after 50 years. If you ever had a car of that caliber than you'd know that it...

Got my 66 383 block back from the machine shop

I think the #1 cam bearing will give plenty of oil for any street or street/strip cam. I have done Hughes cams, which require matching Hughes high pressure valve springs installed on heads at time of break-in. Hughes requires those springs be in place or they will not guarantee the cam. I would...

Rear A/C for 1969 T&C Wagon - Dealer Ad on Option and Use of R290 Refrigerant

Thank you all for your replies and your comments. The wagon was parked in 1982. When the engine was freshened a few years ago, I was told the A/C System still had some pressure when it was dis-connected. The wagon was kept in a garage in Anaheim, CA and there is no rodent or other critter...
