    Heater hose routing.....silly, yes

Mine is a 66 fury 383....but you seem to have given me a lot to consider in the two pics. First is that your hose connections are different than mine, my front pump hose goes to the outside heater fitting....not sure that may matter or not, but need to check that as well. And, both of yours...

    Heater hose routing.....silly, yes

As I work on timing chain, I will replace heater hoses. They were routed just off the engine hanging toward exhaust manifold. I could shorten a bit so they sit nearly on valve cover, or extend out toward the inner fender. Thoughts please on something silly.

    Those heater box cable clips....

I just found some on ebay for an AMC....look like the same thing, but we will see. But, reason for my note is that I just replaced the vent doors with these clips. Would NOT press on with either std or needle nose pliers. So, finally the brain engaged and I used a simple awl with sharp...

    Cooling system capacity

I have been flushing and filling my mud filled system for almost a year. Normallly I get out about two plus gallons. Recently I pulled one block drain plug and got out two quarts. I did not pull the passenger side since the drive side was clean. But, in refill, I went to the manual that...

    Those heater box cable clips....

I might be done with this note....and BigJohn is right about the screw. I did not think the holes were good, but they are. The hole in the bracket is about 0.117, and at first I was thinking No. 4 sheet metal or self threading. But, by looking at tap drill sizes, this is appropriate for No 6...

    Those heater box cable clips....

Just snapped the first clip back onto the new cable.....what a pain. Used narrow needle nose pliers but not easy. Since these are spring steel, not easy to open up the hole for a screw. So, I will use a simple paper clip or clamp to add some force to the clip end to keep him in...

    Those heater box cable clips....

These are the two types of cable clips used on my car. The scott drake is from mustang, a bit different than that used on the heater control, but I think will work with some mod. The small ones are the spring steel type that just snap over the cable and are used at the heater box end. And...

    Heater box cables, non AC

Just trying to provide some experience for the unsuspecting later work. Just finished the second cable....and to my dismay the new one is harder to bend the end loops. So, this new one is a full 0.062 whereas the first one was 0.053. If you want to do this, recommend you ask about wire...

    Heater box cables, non AC

I have successfully made the first long cable, for defrost. It must loop under the speedo, to align the clip holders. But, using a .2 driver bit, you can tightly wrap two loops in the wire....make sure of the movement amounts on each end. and also make sure the two ends are in the same plane...

    Those heater box cable clips....

I just pulled off my first clip that simply wraps over the opposite edge of the base flange, and it just pulls loose....I used pliers to just flip it over the edge and pops off....OK. So, also, to BigJohns point, I am thinking of drilling and using a screw to help hold down, as needed. Note...

    Heater box cables, non AC

I finally found that scott drake carries the clamp plates or clips. They are mustang style but I will be able to make them work. Problem to make your own is the channel in center of clip....hard to replicate.

    Heater box cables, non AC

Not being able to either find them of specific length, or for the C body.....I got a generic lawn throttle cable. The inner wire is easily bent to a circle, so will build my own. Also, the pins are 0.20 in or 13/64. I will try some metric star clips or push nuts as 5mm is close.

    Heater box cables, non AC

I am at the point that I will have to work on the stinkin cables......the reason I say that has to do with getting to the clips on the box. Not nice. But, my current old cables are long, and appear to be way too long. For instance, the defrost cable is maybe 24 inches, for one that should...

My Cure for the Summer Time Blues, Tranny Cooler + GOOD Copper Radiator

gerald.....was going to ask why no shroud, until I saw your later note. But, I think the separate tranny cooler might be helpful in my case, not for cooling but for the add of a shroud, which my 383 does not include. Also, my radiator seems to have no side mount flanges, so has a makeshift...

    Those heater box cable clips....

For now, my heater box is buried, and even hard to photo. thanks both. I am thinking that the lip of the clip is over the edge of the plate, and it would be pried back off the lip......but cant tell yet. I cant believe that when young I saw these by the dozens, and now cannot find parts or...

    Those heater box cable clips....

There was a thread on the subject, but no info on how to deal with these darlings. Some cable clips are held by a screw. Others, the problem at hand, just snap down. Does anyone know how to un fumble these things so they survive. It seems they fold over the lip of the plate, but not sure...

66 fury non AC heater parts and help

Well, good guidance here, thanks. I saw the damper in the manual of which you speak, but that did me no good. I will have to do some more homework now, but assume this has to control water flow??? That will control the heat in the air thru the core....but this from old thought. I find it...

66 fury non AC heater parts and help

Have just removed the heat control and cables. They were all disconnected, and the levers on the box are stuck. Soooo, I have searched here and also reviewed service manual as well as ebay et al for parts. I need to begin with a diagram of the controller, to see how cables connected. The...
