1958 Dodge Steering Column Parts question .

I have a 1958 (RHD) Steering Column and Box I would like to put back in my 58 Custom Royal so i can run the 58 Steering Wheel i have .
The Column that is in there now is a later model and the 58 steering wheel doesn't fit .
I have started disassembling the 58 Column and have some questions .
The photos show a Seal , Cupped Washer , Spring and another flat washer .
There isn't any groove in the shaft for a snap ring to hold the spring down .
There also doesn't appear to be any ridge in the outer jacket / column shell to hold the spring down .
Would anyone know how this spring is held down .

I think i have answered the question asked by myself in this thread .
I was cleaning the paint of the column jacket and found these .
There are four of them , they are probably 2mm deep .
I slid the large washer in and it stops on the indents .
