The engine leans to the right like the passenger motor mount has collapsed. For 225K you'd think that would be addressed and he would throw in the original wheel covers and wheels.

I knew the 6.8 Quarter mile claim had to be bogus so I checked a little bit. Turns out Garlitz was the first to break 200 mph in 1964 and it still took 7.7 seconds with his Swamp Rat VI. He was pushing 2000 HP too not 475 like Mr. Bozo. Maybe he meant 16.8. That would be more believable.

My 1960 Chrysler 300F with the Ram Induction engine in that fairly large/heavy body does 0 - 60 mph in just over 7 seconds so the claim in the listing for the Polara is junk. Ram Induction was designed to give better mid-range (e.g. 50 - 70 mph acceleration) performance rather than 0 - 60 mph times.

For grins I went to his FB commerce profile. He’s selling some high dollar odd ball stuff. This 880 was SOLD at 25k and then relisted at 18k? And for some reason he offered to sell the transmission out of it for $1800. This car looks like it was painted by a 9 year old. His name does match with Dave’s research.

That is what the 2x4 on the home made console is for.

That is another questionable ad, maybe the seller has a bad case of Joe Biden syndrome (dementia). Police package on a vert, surely you jest! $1800 for a 727 transmission? Wonder if a flipper now owns these cars.

The crossed flags look like D500 emblems.

I looked at some other pics of D500's no crossed flags, some had a design in front of the wheel arch on the front fender.
Found this

But because the pics are so crappy of this car is hard to tell what they are.

"This is as good a posting-spot as any for the following information.

Got a phone call about the production of the 20th-of-21-total 1961 Polara Ram-Induction car,
which is discussed on another thread on this board.

This thread is about the 21st-and-final 1961 Polara Rammie that was built, and, also, about the production
figures on the other 1961 Polara Rammie models.

According to Darrell Davis' book on the 1961 D500 Dodges, there were (21) 2-dr hardtops, (17) 4-dr hardtops, (17) convertibles(!), (11) 4-dr sedans, (7) 6-passenger wagons, and (7) 9-passenger wagons built = 80-total
1961 Polara-model D500 Rammies built.

There were a total of (791) 383/4-barrel 1961 Polara D500s built, across all the model lines.

Now, about the 21st-and-last 1961 Polara Rammie, it was Special-Ordered to a San Francisco
dealership (instead of possibly having been built for Corporation show/advertising, or to the SF Regional
Field Office or by a Corp-insider/in-house purchaser).

Whoever ordered this car KNEW what he wanted in his car, which was Shipped out on 7/18/61.

It is (I say "is", because it probably STILL exists, in someone's garage)...white, but, it is the ONLY 2-dr Rammie
having power windows, but, also a power swivel seat and the Heavy Duty suspension, and HD 12" brakes and
with "Special (15", probably)" wheels/tires.

It was ordered with the 2.93 rear end.

The 20th Polara Rammie was Shipped out on 3/8/61, and this 21st last-Rammie, as above mentioned, was Shipped out on 7/18/61---four months later.

The 20th Polara Rammie was the only Rammie that was ever sent to the L.A. region, but there were (5) Polara Rammies that were Shipped to the S.F region in 1961.

So: anybody wanna go find that 21st Rammie, somewhere in the Frisco area?

I was hoping you'd chime in Steve, thanks. I thought I saw somewhere the 1/4 mile times for the 300's were around 13- 14s if I recall. Still pretty darn good for the size and weight of them. The Polara has to be pretty close in weight to a 300.

I'm thinking the only way you could get a '61 D500 to do a 6.8 1/4 mile, is if you drove it out the back of a C-130.

1/4 mile times for the 300F were noted generally at 15.2 seconds Kenny.

The car at issue here looks like a cludged together mashmash of parts including bucket seats from a B body of the period (1961 Polaras never had consoles) and I suspect Jay Leno never inquired about the car. He mostly likes original untouched ones. The whole thing is B.S. IMO.

Earlier in the thread, I was wondering IF it was a real Ram Induction car (but a 383, as Dave mentioned), if that was when the RB383s were around. If so, then he might be trying to pass off the 383 as a 413?

In that "famous race", the Corvette driver must have missed a gear. Not even PosiTraction can fix that.

Crossed-flag emblems were quite popular in the later '50s to earlier '60s. That "performance image" thing.

ANY Chrysler Corp convertible is vary likely a rare car, due to the low production figures. Especially with some low-installation-rate options . . . factory installed.

Wonder what that seller has not yet tried to sell, hidden away in a garage? With "too much money, not enough car"? Just a point of curiosity, only.

Enjoy!

RB 383 engines were only used by Chrysler in the 1959 and 1960 model years, and only in Windsors and Saratogas. They were not used in 1961.

383 could be had in Polara and Dart in 1960 with the D 500 option. 325hp dual quad.

Yes but that is a B series 383 not an RB. The 383 in 59-60 chryslers used in the Windsor and saratoga were RB 383 engines and based on the 413 block because Chrysler could not produce enough B series engines. The RB series 383 had a bore of 4.031 and used the 3.75" crank from the 413. B series 383 had a bore of 4.250" and stroke of 3.375".

I'll post this here once again for those who didn't read it the first time...

Please elaborate. . .
Well, when he cannot evacuate his bowel, the fecal matter will build up and compress into a hardened mass that may require surgical intervention...However, I believe his problem is CRANIAL RECTAL IMPINGEMENT. IE, his head is up his ***! Prognosis is not good.
