1962 727 torqueflite pushbutton cable shifter?

Getting ready to put my trans in, and my car it has no park, and the pushbutton trans. rnd12.
I removed the cable w the shift button in reverse when I got the trans back from the builder he said it was in neutral.
My book says to hold the rev button in and push cable into the trans so it will engage then adjust the wheel 5 turns after it touches the trans.
My question is do I need to hold the neutral button in since the builder said it was in neutral or will the selector in the trans move to reverse when I push the cable in holding the reverse button in?
First time w one of these so any direction would be appreciated.

Follow the instructions in the manual. It's pretty straight forward. You may need to rotate the adjustor one way or the other for a final adjustment.

None of them did. You needed to have a well adjusted parking brake - which was mounted on the end of the tailshaft.
