Yep, that's about what I figured too, Jer. Interesting info has come out since, but it's still a shell, albeit a nice shell. The trailer brake add-on certainly plays into what Stan and someone else(maybe that was Stan too) mentioned about hauling a racer around, too. Not the kind of performance package the average Airstream family would likely do or even know about.
Which gets back to documentation, and how much it would suck (IMO) if this was a 'genuine imitation' (done by the dealer) upgrade that was torn up for a quick Hemi sale.
The upside is, you've got a decent platform to build into your dream wagon. Just not at his asking price. Newsflash for the seller: It's not a "Cool Rare Car" anymore if the story was actually true to begin with.
