1966 Monaco drive shaft

I have an issue with pinion angle and the driveline shop tells me it originally came with a double shaft. Just didn't sound right.
Nope. Find another shop.
Pinion angle has no relation to driveshaft type/length unless it is very out of whack, which rear leaf springs will not tolerate. Nor will the GM cars they were probably thinking of, with their fixed-length rear control arms.
Considering that pinion angle relates to how the rear spring saddles are welded to the axle housing, how did your pinion angle get out of whack? Or might it be due to a much-lowered ride height?
Head over to www.mymopar.com and free-download a 1966 Factory Service Manual. It has illustrations and procedures to measure pinion angle. There are wedge-shaped shims that can go between the leaf spring and rear axle mounts to raise the nose of the differential, but to go the other way, un-welding and re-welding can be required. OF course, this is with the factory rear suspension (or something like it).

'66 Imperials had a 2 piece shaft so that may be where they are getting that from.
There are pinion angle wedge kits that one can buy that are placed between the springs and perches to fix pinion angle issues too.
