1967 Newport Custom Engine/Engine bay/ stub frame rebuild

I just finished my rebuild using Moog parts, and if I recall they did not include the sleeves so I reused mine. If you have trouble finding steel locally, I have used speedymetals and also discountsteel online to order steel tubing material. If you use DOM there will be no seam on the inside to cause problems going on. Otherwise it is necessary to order a reamer from ebay or Mcmaster carr or yardstore.com to clean up an HREW tube. The stuff I have seen in the overpriced steel racks at hardware store chains is all HREW.

Ok, I’ve searched my box of crap twice over and can’t find these... I’m beginning to suspect that they wound up in the scrap bin, unfortunately. Sorry, man.
No problem. Thank you for looking. I managed to grab a set at the junkyard today....along with replacement inner fenders (mine were rusted through at the radiator support) and the correct 26" radiator support for my radiator....a nice left mirror and really clean front hood lip trim.

Oh....and I grabbed the front floor mat....one piece across the whole front. Hard to find...in decent shape....dirty but still supple.

Ordered all new front brake hardware, bearings and seals, and parking cable today. That should be the last of everything for the front frame section. Hoping to get it all finished next week. Then I can start blasting the sheet metal parts and get them painted for assembly.

Well today I was able to get the steering gear back in, all the brake hardware replaced and lower ball joints swapped for the PST ones. I'm keeping the old ones just in case. They are still good but have bad boots. I have to get the sway bar in and get the. Tie rod sleeves painted or powder coated then they can go in and the frame will be done and ready to bolt back in the body.

I still have to weld the last panel into the firewall before I can paint it and install the frame. After that...blast the fenders and other sheet metal and paint them, Install new brake lines and wheel bearings and start assembling the front end.

Subframe suspension is complete...every single bushing and joint is replaced. New wheel bearings are on the way. But otherwise ready to bolt back in.

So when installing the frame...I'm wondering if its just putting the bolts and shims back in or do I need to measure anything the make sure its square to the body?
