That trunk pan must be saved
Problem with trunk floors is the labor to remove them properly. I've sent dozens of rust free trunk floors to scrap because no one will pay enough to make it worth my time to remove it. I would gladly give away any good trunk floors I have to someone that needs it if they want to come by and cut it out but if I'm gonna spend the better part of a day doing it It's got to bring more than $50. The other issue is shipping costs.
 
Proper way is drilling them out at the spot welds and by doing so they are close to being ready for reinstallation into another car. Somebody that was removing a pan to sell and wasn't worried about the reinstallation end of it would use a plasma cutter and slice through all of the adjacent panels immediately outside the perimeter of the part the buyer wants. Leave ckeaning and prepwork to the new owner.

Next question: In an ideal world I would be rich and would have a spot weld cutter. Can one get at all the spot welds and pull the pan without cutting the rear quarters?

Spot weld cutters are actually pretty cheap. As far as getting to all the spot welds without cutting the quarters yes you can. However the point in my first post was how time consuming it is to properly cut out a trunk floor and extensions without destroying the adjacent panels. That's why I said it will take the better part of a day. Yes you can rough cut out a trunk pan in less than an hour with a plasma cutter but you will destroy all panels it's attached to. So since you have now rendered both quarters and the rear tail light panel junk you still can't sell the trunk pan for $50.

Agreed! And spotweld cutters are cheap however you DO get what you pay for in them as with anything. I have found that Blair makes the best and are made in Michigan:bighug:!
I basically dismantled almost all of my `68 Road Runner in the restoration process by cutting out the spot welds to replace rusty parts.

I tried to 'unpick' the trunk floor in my 66 Fury using a spot weld cutting drill bit. Took me about an hour to do 2 so I just very carefully cut the old one out with an angle grinder and 1mm cutting disc before fabricating new ones from 16 gauge sheet steel...much easier and far less frustrating!!!
