Can the backup light switch be removed without removing the steering wheel column? Can the switch be repaired, and if not, does anyone sell new switches? Thanks!

The backup light switch is always a separate bolt-in/plug-in item, back then. On most columns, near the bottom and on the top or near the 10:00am position. With the single-wire neutral safety swith on the side of the transmission.

With the later (for that time) 3-prong neutral safety switch, did that one include the backup light switch in it?

Just some thoughts,

Yes it can be removed without removing the column.
The switch may be ok. I had a broken post that someone here is making from a 3D printer. That solved my issue.
