I got a good deal on this gear box. It was said to be for my car. But when I got it I could clearly see that it falls short of matching up on several fronts. Just wondering if there's a way to make this gear box work in my car? Maybe it's just a case the wrong part. Here's a picture of the one in the car and the new one.

Thanks!

Where did you get the new gearbox from?

Might this be another eBay "Guaranteed to fit" item? "Direct Fit with modifications"?

Just curious,

I did a search on the picture just for fun and found this: Replacement Steering Gear

There's always a reason why things are cheap. In this case, they are probably dumping an item that gets returned a lot.

I replaced the original steering box in my 68 Plymouth Sport Suburban wagon this fall, I bought from Steer & Gear in Columbus,Oh their modern/sport feel steering box and sent them my worn out original as a core the feeling of the steering is amazing car does not wander and tracks straight down the road. I can drive the car with one hand on the wheel on the highway without the car wandering in the lane. Cost was $500.00 with the core if no core $700.00 shipped & received within 3 days .Highly recommend them.
