1969 Hot Rod Lincoln

my 460 mark 5 was the fastest car i'll ever own. i could get the speedometer needle to bounce off the stop. cruise effortlessly at 100 mph. factory sunroof, jubilee edition, bucket seats with a console. totaled by a distracted driver 12/22/99. the disc brake rear and hydro-boost live on in my newport.

I'm really surprised they are letting the Lincoln run with the wheel covers on.

I thought the same. I'm amazed they stayed on, especially the launch. Very cool with the wheel covers on and white walls.

I am into Mark IV's - '72-76.. I inherited as part of another deal, a 514 (stroked 460) that was tossed in. It wasn't running, needed a few things, my mechanic took a flyer and let his kid get it running (at that time in vocational training).

For for a couple hundred in parts (it had ignition issues), and pizzas for the kid and his posse, they got it running. End of that engine story - it lived on until my mechanic's son (I gave it to him - real cheap), later as an adult, blew it up draggin' with it in a truck.

It was all 20+ years ago. I put it in this. 1976 Lincoln Mark IV, digitized 35mm Kodaks.

Factory C6, factory 9 in. Ford 3.25 with Track Lok, factory four wheel disc brakes, factory dual exhaust, etc ... elderly owner ran his factory 460 outta oil but car only had 56K miles on it.

15x8 and 15x10 Center Lines, 245/60 in front, 295/50 in back, no mods/no interference. Purists hated it ..SO, I built another one to really piss off the diehards :poke:

This is (I still have it today) the "legendary" (in Mark Series lore) "Black Diamond" model, per Marti report, NOT that many made (~1,500) that one MY year only with the black diamond RPOs. It has an alligator (Cayman) vinyl roof, special black metallic paint, etc.

So I created "LRDVAYDR". Nope, it was NOT the beast like this '69 Mark III is, but it was loud, strong, long, low, and fast.

Horsed around with it til we finally rebuilt the factory mill and put it back in it... it is otherwise 100% original (including the deep-dish, polished factory alloys), even the roof and paint (we just put a wheel on it and she buffed right up).

"Granny does your dog bite? Yes, child, Yes:" But not anymore :)
