That's why on later 50's on up Chrysler glass, it has the Pentastar on it. Most Mopar glass from 58-mid 200s was made at the Chrysler McGraw plant. This is modern jeep glass, but we've all seen the Pentastar on our glass...you get the idea.

Yes, my original glass does have a pentastar on it as well. But unfortunately there is a rock chip in the area before the driver's field of vision and that's a no go for the german Tüv.
It's great that there are still brand new windshields available!

Will they allow it to be filled? That's gotten to be the standard repair, even with cracks.

I had a rock crack the windshield in my Grand Marquis last year. They said "if a dollar bill covers it, we'll fix it". It was longer, so it got replaced.

You are allowed to repair it if it's not in the direct field of view of the driver.

Tight restrictions..

In Finland you can get every cracks and hits repaired from windshield, but price goes so high with bigger ones that its cheaper to by new one. Dividing line goes in somewhere 10cm/4" long crack.

On newer cars there is of course no idea to try to repair any longer cracks, because windshield is structural part of body..

Sorry to hear about not being able to have it filled. I just had 2 rock chips filled on one of my F-250s, one of them in the field of view and it’s nearly impossible to see the repair.

always remember when complaining about politicians, you guys in the US still live in the land of the free. Germany is world champion when it comes to rules and regulations. I sometimes wonder when the time will come that we´re not allowed to drive our historic vehicles anymore because they´re so outdated that they´re considered as too dangerous to drive...

I concur. I have visited Germany twice. Once in the late 90’s and I was interested in what appeared to be excessive ‘controls’. But, I enjoyed the fact that many things were very nice, such as almost all of the power lines in cities were underground.
We have wild variations in rules here in the US regarding vehicles (many states impose additional requirements on smog testing). For example, In the republik of Kalifornia, they require their own fuel, bi-annual smog checks for all vehicles newer than 1975(?) (which are some of the many reasons that I left that $hithole), but no annual safety inspection, like other states. Here in South Dakota, none of that is imposed, except if one is attempting to re-title a salvaged vehicle or one has built a ‘kit car’...

Well, the 90s were 2 decades ago, things have changed, especially when it comes to political correctness. I think that our holy right to drive 200mph on the autobahn will be revoked in the near future which would be like forcing every US citizen to hand their guns at the next police station... But there are leftists and tree huggers everywhere now. They might not be the majority but they definitely make the most noise...

I think that you meant 200 kph, but maybe not. 8^O
I tried when there, but could only obtain 220 kph (~135 mph) in a brand new Opel Vectra sport wagon.
It would be a shame to see the speed limits reduced.

Nope

I never had a car that was able to do 200mph but a motorcycle that was restricted to 299kmh which transfers to 185mph.once you've tried that you'll never try it again... Anyways back to Imperial resto Julian, sorry for taking your thread off track

I like you just a little more now... partly for being brave/stupid/crazy enough to try it, mostly for using the correct road and realizing it wasn't the way you wanted to leave this world.

I gave up 2 wheels long ago... living in a place where the population seems to have a hard time NOT merging into a big green GMC Suburban, I have zero desire to try one again. The number of 2 wheelers who endanger or kill others with excessive speed and driving beyond their abilities around here is friggin awful... and for the most part I support a person's right to choose how they'd like to die.
