1969 Imperial progress thread

Yeah, was nice weather and I was brave.
Ok, to be honest, I had to move it and no enclosed trailer was available.
But it went well without any incidents.

I hope one day I will be able to give my Black Convertible the love/detail your 69 has gotten. Truly phenomenal work. Can't wait to see more.

More parts, more pictures! :)

Doors, hinges, the rear valance and the fender tag are done.

I'm looking for pictures of the center roof support brace where the dome light is attached on any 2dr fuselage with a regular dome light and how it's attached. Please post what you have.

You might consider installing two under dash courtesy lights, one on each side (like the 71 Furys with light package had) as this seems to be less trouble than finding and installing a good dome light and brace.

Then again, the dome light brace itself is probably identical through most body styles (four door hardtop, four door sedan, two-door hardtop) and from 1969 through 1973, so should be available pretty easily in any bone yard with a Fusie.

Agreed! I like the idea of some courtesy lights under the dash instead! Especially since I forgot to do something about interior light after deleting the two dome lights next to the smaller rear window I deleted.
And adding a brace now that the car is painted and concidering that the dome lights are all pretty ugly imho, it's probably the better way!

Do anyone has pictures of these courtesy lights?

Yes thanks! That's the part I need! Does anyone has one for sale?

And I'm also looking for a nice dome light #2947928 without spending a fortune.

I didn't think fuselage Imperials had dome lights, just the door panel lights. But I have never payed attention to a 69 Imperial dome light. Now I will.

Usually, they just have 2 reading lights left and right to the rear window, as long as the car has the smaller rear window, which they have when equipt with a vinyl roof, which was standard on LeBaron models. Only Crown models were available without a vinyl roof from the factory since it was an option, not standard. And when they did, there was no space for the reading lights in the window plug, because they had the bigger window, because they could not hide the smaller window plug underneith the vinyl roof.

In this case, they had a regular dome light. I only know someone with a Crown 4dr sedan I know as a reference, and it has the dome light with the switch to switch between dome light and reading light, #2926452.

These were not very fancy. Just a socket and a bracket and a naked bulb. But you usually don't see them as they are mounted pretty much below and somewhat behind the dashboard.

Adding the dome light will help with interior viability tremendously at night, but I personally like the clean look of the headliner on the 1969 Imperial without the dome light.
Speaking of the headliner, have you found a source for the material you will use on your 69 restoration? The upholstery guy that did my seats in the 72 and in @ayilar car, Medina, could not find the same material anywhere. The 69 headliner material is different than other C body's, with the material that feels similar to velvet.

I have the same dome light and housing from my '73 NYB, they must have used the same throughout the Fuselage years, it is probably going to be easy to find. If your '69 had the dome light originally, what happened to the bracket?
