#2 DO NOT pay seller for vehicle prior to verifying CLEAN TITLE

I will leave it at that

Getting a title for that vehicle in California will be no big deal at all. You can PM me and I will take you through the steps if you would like. I share your love of the way that car looks, and I can visualize it when you are done. Great score, and don't despair of the paperwork side of things. You live in the right (left) state for such problems!

Believe me I dig this rig, but after getting burned on my one and only SALVAGE TITLE vehicle years ago I will never own another again (see photo) what irks me is Seller misrepresented CLEAN TITLE in CL ad copy and pull down Title status- ridiculous

Wow, that does not sound good. Sorry to hear that. Craigslist is a real loser for trying to buy a car given all the jerks out there.

You're not being clear.
You bought the car and it's not coming with a title, or. . .
You canceled the purchase.

Personally, the salvage title thing would be a deal breaker on a newer car, where resale was important.

On a car your going to rebuild anyhow, it wouldn't be such an issue.

The bigger issue would be if it was wrecked previously, and what was damaged, and that the seller has a lack of integrity.

Sorry to hear it went to crap on ya, it's a cool car for sure.

I tend to agree with you. It wouldn't bother me as long as the car wasn't hacked up in the past or badly damaged and the repairs were substandard. If it was just in a salvage yard with a few parts taken off, and someone decided to save it, then it wouldn't matter much at all to me. But if you invest in it deeply, don't expect the vehicle to bring the $$ it would if it didn't have the salvage title. If I invest deeply in restoring a car, I will very likely just keep it until I am gone, and then I won't care..............

I was trying to be discreet and not call the Seller a real BAD NAME on this forum (that is until I got my FULL REFUND from PAYPAL back) and guess what? This guy actually got the KARMA MEMO and changed CL Title Status from Clean to REBUILT! As cheap as this killer 'vert is, to get the 383 moving the roller car again and untold $$$ in defered maintenance and still have a SALVAGED Title, I decided to take that money and finally restore my '70 TX9 roadrunner 'vert

Some insurance companies will not insure a car with a salvage title.

Sorry to here the deal went down the tubes. Sounds like you have a solid plan now with the RR, and no cost to ship a vehicle across the country. Good to hear you got your refund with no hassle's. Post some pictures of the RR when you have a chance.

Glad to hear this situation was 'salvaged', TX9.
I love C-bodies, but if I had a RR like that on-hand I wouldn't fool around getting another C in inventory. Get that one done!

And yeah, 'clean DE title' sure doesn't sound like 'rebuilt' to me. I usually give benefit of the doubt, but sounds like either a really classic overlook (1%), or seller was really trying to pull a fast one (99%).

I'll play devil's advocate. Clean can also mean no liens, etc.not indicating status, in which case it may be "accurate" but not forthright.
