You have to admit. The GT tip does look like a hack job was done to "make" it work.
Fascinating stuff! 5 stars.

I've got this ones on my Hurst :

This is a pair of original tips

I see a genuine OEM Mopar factory part that they didn't do all that great a job of grabbing off the shelf and hacking it to fit on the Hurst...

I double checked something but I have the D32 code instead of the D34.
it says :

D32 : H-D A-727 TorqueFlite Trans / Some Years A-998

instead of :

D34 : TorqueFlite Automatic Transmission

what is the diffrence ?

D32 = Heavy Duty 727

D34 = Standard 727

Which brings up another point if it isn't too much of getting off topic.
Just how many different A727 Big Blocks transmissions were there?

Ok. We have your standard passenger TF.
Then there's your Cop/Taxi TF.
Also the Hemi TF.

Is that it?

Truck 727 BB TF
A body 727 BB TF

Thanks but I knew that.
I was talking about the innards.

yeah.

Well there a couple gazillion variances then and I know next to nothing about automatic transmissions

there are also lock-up torque converters but thats kinda external and internal as the input shaft is different and of couse the converter but I imagine there's some peculiarities with the internals on those not to mention constant internal changes they made to improve the efficiency of the 727 as time rolled on

Can you be more specific?

"The high-performance Torqueflite used with the 440 TNT has 4 pinion gears instead of 3 in the front planetary gear assembly and a 4-disc front clutch for greater strength and durability."

That's what I was looking for.
Design differences in the innards.
Ok. You called that the "high performance" TF...
So, let me ask this. Was there a difference tween the "Hemi" and cop/taxi "heavy duty" unit?

Quite frankly: I don't know. The above is a quote from the 1970 Chrysler Data Book. I guess one would have to dive into the parts book to - hopefully - answer your question.

the info is correct.
426 Hemi cars even got 5 clutches.
the 4 clutches were installed in 383HP and 440 cars

The nuance between a sales and build code.

D34 tells you the "what" - automatic transmission
D32 tells you the "which" - 727. As opposed to D31 904.
The Broadcast sheet tells you the specific version of the transmission to account for application. A 383-2 automatic codes the same as a Hemi (D34 and D32) but the specific PN will be different.

All D32s are D34 but not all D34s are D32.
