It was soft from rust and someone use a swing arm hoist on the old girl and the weight crushed the frame upward. I am going to start a "formal" post in the resto section next week when i get new pics of it so you can all follow its progress. How bad is the ding in the stub you have? And how long till you would have it out?

Driver's side. Depends on my work-load, but probably not until spring:

You "chimed in" on my ad. Im allowed. That car looks rust free to me. Yes the paint is shot but quarters look solid. Its worth 2 grand all day. If it has a big block.... Bonus. My fault man. I comment when I see the same 3 or 4 dudes bashing other peoples stuff. I'm not saying everyone on here is cheap. But Cheap C body guys are on here and you guys better look in the mirror....

You got me there. I commented once to call you out for claiming it had a clear title, when it did not, and the second time to congratulate you on your eBay sale. So, why did the buyer back out?

Wow cool to see some more out there. That white top and white gut would look sharp!
So I need an education on this EV2 names
Dodge- hemi orange
Plymouth- Tor-red
Chrysler-???

I justed looked at the stub pics and it may be a little to kinked for me. I am sure I can find one if I keep watching.
Just to add more confusion that article said the 1970 convertible were solid and that police ones were solid. Does anyone know if the hurst 300's were the silent or quiet torsion bar setup as I remember reading they had the heavy duty police suspension on those?

that is a real good question
EV2 was originally not available on Chryslers. Just on Dodge/Plymouths. You called the names correctly.
The colour can not be found in the 1970 Chrysler colour and trim selector. Check it out:

But during the model year colours got introduced later on.
The colour FQ5 turquoise in example is a 1970 C-body only colour but was introduced during the model year. It is not on the list either. It was not available in the beginning, too. EV2 was available on other cars but not yet on Chryslers. Check out the first fender tag Mark posted here about the EV2 Chrysler 300 CV. It has an SPD of 225 which means it was plant to be built on February 25th. The second car I know of has an SPD 320 (march 20th). What is really interesting is the fact that the first car (fender tag) has a Y91 code. It is a factory show car. Not "just" a dealer demonstrator etc but a show car (!).
So my guess is the colour was introduced on Chryslers somewhere in january/february and the first car was loaded and built to be a show car to present the "news" (to dealers/public).

Here is a 1971 Chrysler paint chart where they call EV2 "ceramic red"

Here's why I think the car is very overpriced....

Top is gone and has been gone a while... That means the floor and most likely the trunk floor is rusted out. All the interior "soft" trim is wasted, again from the top and I would beat the plastic is sun dried to where it's not any good. Dash pad is history and any electrical bits in the dash has been out in the elements too.

The deck lid shows no lock... probably been punched out like a lot of junk cars. That can be fixed by a good body guy, but figure it might be cheaper to find another one.

The battery looks like it's burst. Guess where that drains down into? The stub frame! Figure on that and the core support being rusted through.

No front end pics, so I assume the grille and headlight doors are either gone or wrecked.

The car most likely won't run. At best you have an engine and trans core. You won't know until it's apart on your stand.

OK... So am I a cheap C-Body guy? Well... my last real Mopar was an A-12 and I understand about supply and demand. I also know what stuff costs and to fix that car would take a lot more $$$ than buying a decent driver. I hate to even think about how much I have in my 300 vert.

That car isn't worth $2k. Scrap prices are high around here... Maybe $350 per ton or more. So... $700 plus a couple hundred 'cause it is, after all, a 300 rag top, and you are into the $900 to $1000, maybe a little more price range.

Did anyone else see that C body in original FM3 pink that the guy who owns BE&A posted on moparts. It was a color that was not suppose to exist on any C bodies and he had one there with a white painted roof. It did not look good on the big car but shows one existed. I think it is safe to say ANYTHING was possible back then.

no, it is a fully documented FM3 coloured car with FM3 on the tag. Car has still original paint but is pretty rusty.

We have a 1970 Fury III CV in germany which was factory EV2, too but is currently painted in kind of mauve colour.

Now I keep getting more and more confused as I have the front stub off the hurst 300 parts car I can use but based on this article it will not work on a 70 rag?
I would hate to pull both subframes out and have the car on the rack and then it does not work. I want to throw this out there (mostly to polara71 as he knows the car the best). Am I completely stupid to consider cutting out the frame issues on the back part of the frame and boxing it in as I had wanted to run a set of connectors back to the rear rails to strengthen this car up some. Will that kill this car if it is done very cleanly? I know in the B and E body world ANY welding in on the underside is a killer but to us C body guys (as I am converting!) is it that big of a deal. We love the cars for what they are not as much HOW perfect they are. But I don't want to do it if everyone thinks it will kill the EV2 vert since it is a somewhat special car. Any input is greatly appreciated as I am going to get rolling on this car shortly to get her back on the road by spring with new powerplant and paint.

I wouldnt do anything like that to that car. It has been through enough sloppy hands. It deserves the right stuff and the right stuff is another frame. Do not try and repair what is there, replace it!! No supports, no braces, you dont need it. You have a special car, the only 1970 Polara convertible built with EV2 paint.

I have to agree here .. along with the other options and it's pedigree it's a special piece of history

Okay guys that is all I needed to hear a new stub it will be. If I can not locate a 69 stub I will try that one from my 70 hurst. Polara71 do you know if there had to be any mods at all when you did it to your car since it is "supposed" to be longer?

didnt do it to my car. I posted a photo of a car 113633 2003 superlite.jpg

this car, that used a 1971 Polara frame. I am certain the builder told me it bolted right in. First time I saw this car was in 1998 at the Englishtown NJ show. I still see the builder on an annual basis at Carlisle.

My frame on my white convertible is bent but can be straightened..not an ounce of rust so I think thats the way I will go with it
