1970 fury three convertible

I guess I’ll just hope that the most recent drivetrain was not the original one and if that’s the case I’ll take back my harsh opinion and thank the current owner for making this rare car available to the right crowd.

Come on Big Boy Pm me that you will buy the whole car title included. I thought the E Bodies had it bad. Come on Barge loves please save this car. Pm me

same car? View attachment 337067picture from your website, thank you.
That's a California car and well documented. It hasn't been restored, only a paint job as far as I know.

The parts car under discussion here is an unknown until someone checks the VIn, Fender Tag and the engine and transmission serial stampings.

Edit
Just saw the posting of the Fnder Tag showing the car is in fact a very rare T0D car. If all the numbers match it's a good deal at $5k. One of you guys will need to buy it, I've already got one and I sure as heck don't need two!

It won’t be me, I’m more of a slabside and Imperial guy but I care enough about all of these big cars to want to see them saved.

I'm trying to come up with the cash but it's not looking good. I'd love to save it and thank you for giving us the opportunity, that's all we can ask for.

:thankyou::thumbsup:

Christmas time, ugh, too many presents to buy, but this car would have rounded out my GT, S23, rare Fury collection.

Just got back to this site.
I'll call blewbyu later after work.
Unfortunately, kinda, I'm going to look at a 69 vip fury in a day or two.

So I see some rust on the drivers rear wheel well on the front side of it. Looks pretty serious. Makes me wonder what's under the repaint.
It appears mostly complete but I don't see any door panels in the car. Are these panels hard to find or reproduce?
Can someone on here with far more keen eyes than me throw me some negatives here. Since I've not restored a big car yet there are things that I'm not familiar with.

SMS auto fabrics can reproduce the door cars. Check the trunk floor, rockers and rear frame rails for rust. Check the foot wells in the drivers compartment for rust. Inspect the stub frame and mounts for rust, check the A-Pillars and cowl for rust. If those areas are mostly rust free, the car is restorable without a lot of trouble. The rust on lower quarter radii and around the rear wheel wells is fairly common and can be repaired.

Looking at the Fender Tag note how thick the paint is and how it's not "sticking" very well. I expect there has been a lot of body work done and covered with the new paint. To do a proper restoration the car needs to be taken apart and media blasted to remove all paint and all bondo. Then all rust needs to cut out and replaced with new steel. Look at the pictures of my car being done and you'll see where the rust likes to grow. My web site link is in my sig below.

Door panels are easy, thousand of Fury III's were built and any two drht will have suitable or panels. The rear seat bench and side panels are another story, they are convertible only.

I bought my car new, drove all my kids home from the hospital when they were born, drove from coast to coast on family trips. In short loved that car to death, so when it came time to scrap it or restore it, cost was never a factor. I had already owned the car for over 25 years before I even discovered 440 verts were rare. The point is, I spent a ton of green because of it's family history, not because it's rare.

Ask'n and Get'n are two different things!

Interesting and impressive cars and I appreciate the history but it's all irrelevant to the OP. Unfortunately I'm out, can anyone save this car or is it relegated to a parts car demise? The OP, although annoyed, has offered it up for sale but no one can expect him to sit on it for long.

As the OP I am not annoyed at all. It's when everyone on here says save it and I know that no one will step up to the plate that was chiming in to save it. I am all for saving any car that interest someone especially when it was truly a low production car. This being said it won't be me. I have to be honest that I do not really follow C Body cars that close and had no idea that it was that rare of car. I do not have to part it out and hope that someone will restore it. If this something that someone will take on PM me and lets save this car. Here is an idea, maybe a couple of fans could go into together?

The sad reality of the C body world. :BangHead:

Yep, this is one of them that all the fuselage guys lust over and look for and what do we have when a nice project comes along ? Crickets...
It’s got to be bad timing. I’ve sold a lot of parts for a lot of years now and December is always one of the very slow months.

Unfortunately, unless a VERY understanding spouse decides it can be someone's Christmas present, there probably won't be any serious offers until Feb after the December CC bills are paid.
