NOT MINE 1970 Polara convertible (EB7, 383) in Syracuse NY

@polara71 alerted me to this car. It is being sold in Syracuse, NY as a rare N-code, but that must be a mistake. Polara Dave and I agree that, from the looks of it, this car is DL27L0D151852 -- a 1970 Polara 'vert that was for sale back in 2018 and that I considered back in winter 2018-2019 -- evaluated remotely with the local help of @Big_John (who went above and beyond to check the car out in the snow):

That does look like the car. This pic I took of the the aftermarket radio matches and the last time I saw the car, the mismatched fender jumped out at me.

And a picture of the car from 2023 at the local car show. I didn't note if it had legit NYS plates on it, so I can't say if the car has been registered or not. I did see the car a couple more times. The guy that owned it was quite older than the present seller. Note mismatched fender.

So, I'm calling BS on "not being run since 1996" as I was there when they fired it up in 2018 (against my advice) and obviously it didn't materialize at the shows.

One can also see the green discoloration of the steering wheel rim in both the new and the old photos. No question it is the same car.

That begs the question as to why the seller is:

(a) representing the car as an N-code when the VIN and the fender tag that you photographed in Dec. 2018 clearly show the L-code ;

(b) saying the car has been sitting since 1996, when it clearly has not -- I have the video that @Big_John sent to me of the engine running back in 2018. Either the seller does not know what he's talking about, or he was bamboozled when he himself bought the car, etc.

A number of things do not add up. First, the business named, Reliable Auto Sales is not in Syracuse, it's in Auburn some 30 miles away. They do sell some collector type cars there, but I don't see this one on their FB site.

Next is the address... 544 E Genesee St in Syracuse is an office/medical building not far out of downtown Syracuse. I think I had a root canal done there years ago. LOL

I looked at his FB profile and I see Auburn mentioned... There is a 544 Genesee St in Auburn, in fact not far from where I bought my 300L. No car dealer there.

I think I recognize the guy though... I seem to remember him showing up at a cars and coffee a couple years ago in some sort of exotic car. Basically a poser that liked attention, but I think he was friendly.

I may go with the "bamboozled" theory.... The seller I talked to in 2018 was not exactly someone I would trust to tell the truth. He told me he taught Salsa dancing... LOL. He had someone helping him sell the car. When I saw the car at the car show, I mentioned I looked at it in 2018 and thought the new owner was this guy's helper, but he said it wasn't him. I kinda think it was though and he wasn't being honest. The car sat on the side of the road in Marietta before that and that's not far from Marcellus where the show was.

When I saw it by happenstance in the fingerlakes area it was a disappointment. Either the photos are touched up or someone worked on getting bling out of the paint.

Yes, the car sat along Otisco Lake in Marietta. I have a dash cam pic.

The paint had obviously been buffed and it actually looked pretty good except for the mismatched fender when I saw it at the show.

I love it here. Otisco Lake is the easternmost lake in the Finger Lakes.

That's about 12 miles from where I live.

Diane and I ate at the Star diner on highway 5 after we left the motel in Geneva. After that just out of the drive on the way home we passed the Polara.
If I had never been west id have been sure THIS was God's country.
