Thanks again. Have watched those vids on youtube a few times over...great stuff. Keep it up. I believe it is 11/70 build... will double check and start digging for build sheet.

Maximum Cooling... hmmm... I don't see any cooling... LOL

O.K., hold the stone throwing and let me explain my opinion on this car. Unless you always wanted this exact model, don't buy it. That is unless you don't care how much you will have into the car vs the realistic restored value. If you return it to a number two condition, you will have double what it is worth in it. There are better station wagons out there for example: 1969 Olds Vista Cruiser from down South on Milwaukee WI. craigslist for $14200. Yea its asking and change the exhaust, valve covers etc back to stock. But, if its everything he says it is and you could get it for $12k, then that is a better buy. The Olds looks better, has the Vista roof and has a greater following when it comes time to sell it. Show that one to your wife.......

Very good point Pete. However, as we have discussed, I like what I like. Back when I bought your Fury, few people were into them. I currently own four station wagons, not one a Chrysler product. I am ready for a semi-pre smog factory 440 optioned wagon to replace the police cars I have sold over the years. I do like the 70-71 Chrysler product wagons... if anyone has a '70 Plymouth Sport Suburban 440 in nice shape, would be all over it. This would be my second choice 70-71 T&C, prefer 71 grill. I like 72-73 as well, would upgrade 440... are usually loaded. Wife likes wagons!

Forgot to add: I believe I am on a mission to save this beast. As I have also been encouraged on this site to go grab it, this thing WILL eventually be crushed if I don't. So... I am going to turn std 440 into hotter TNT with slightly larger cam, TTI exhaust, etc. May consider 6-pack carb set up, 3.23 Sure Grip if it has 2.76 gears. At that point, I would lose my arse, unless were to find right buyer.

Good for you!! Dont listen to Pete, save that wagon!! Howd you get a wife like that? Mine whears the supporter here and she hates our 72 TC and wants me to sell it! I grew a bigger set and and in three weeks the TC will be hauling our new 20 foot ,25 hundred pound camper up to northern Wi. I always have the oldest coolest tow vehicle in the camp ground and it always draws lots of compliments. Compaired to our old 4K pound camper the TC with its 400, I added a dual snorkel, hopefully will see a marked improvment in MPG, It was at about 7 MPG pulling the camper. What kind if MPG do you guys get with your wagons?

Have a fun trip, Glenn. Awesome to see that wagon headed on a trip. Hopefully your wife doesn't have to push... ;)

I prefer the Buick Sport Wagon to the Vista Cruiser, especially the models that remind me of a 73 Fury front end without the rubber bumpers.

I respect Pete's opinion completely.... hell have looked at a few 70-72 455 Vistas over the years, just never pulled the trigger. From a monetary standpoint, he is right on... have just never had a Mopar wagon. To find one in the condition of My 73 T&C on this site, would be money way ahead. Try and find a 69-71 anything wagon with a factory 440 that is really nice and available.

Glenn, 7mpg seems a little low depending on terrain... 8 or 9 would be better... Lol perhaps the 400 is working a bit harder than a 440 would? Taller than 3.23 gears will hurt mpg while towing. My old 460 colony park gets 9-10 around town empty or towing on the open road.

Yeah.... 7mpg sounds a little low to me too. I've driving my 69 300 on two road trips over 1900 miles each so far, loaded with 5-600 lbs of gear and the two of us. 1st trop average was 15 mpg, second was 15.7 mpg.

I've got plans to swap the 2:92 gear for a 3:23 and haul a pop up camper with her. I doubt that I will lose 8 mpg though. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

The early higher compression engines are fairly efficient at highway cruise. My 70 Eldorado has only year 10:1 compression 500... gets 16-17 at 70 mph. Around town... not so good.

Thanks guys for the imput, I swaped in a 3:51 rear so the 400 wouldent have to work so hard pulling the old 4K pound camper but now could go back to the 3:23 with my new 25 hundred pound camper . Pulling the new camper home from the dealer I got an unbleavable 12MPG with the 3:51 rear, Im anxous to see if that holds true on our trip up north. And yes hopefully we wont have to push the TC with camper out of the intersection after the altenator died which in turn turned out to be the voltage regulator when it left us stranded again this time after dark going out for dinner. Was lucky and was able to steal a voltage regulator off a old motor home parked behind a service station and was able to get back to camp. Thats just one of many tales of why wife hates the TC!

The high compression (for the day) early new Kettering V8 engines that came out in the late 40s had unbelievable good mileage that came close to four bangers of the day.
