I'm putting my 1971 Monaco wagon out there for anyone interested. I have other cars ahead of this one slated for major work, so this will sit and wait. It is in covered storage, so it's out of the elements.
383-2/727 Engine is in need of rebuild. Does run and move under its own power. It got hot and blew steam out the radiator, and now has a knock. The engine needed a rebuild when I got it, I just hoped it wasn't the case. It had an oil pressure issue when I got it, and a high volume pump didn't make a difference. It was truly on borrowed time.
Radiator will need to be fixed, has a small hole right next to the upper hose mount.
Has a small hole in the driver's fender in the dog leg.
Some rust in driver's foot well by the rocker.
Rear foot well needs replacing.
Installed a new dash pad, better bezels, and a 150mph speedo. Speedo doesn't work, never chased it down as I put very few miles on the car. Also installed bucket seats in it. The passenger side seat doesn't move back and forth like it should, but I have a spare set of tracks still on another seat.
Driver's front window is a little wonky, it needs help when rolling it up.
New tie rod ends, idler arm, and sway bar bushings.
Wiring has been improved, but there is still a wire or two to go over and find where it's bare, the tail lights weren't working, but did after moving the wires by the rear door rocker panel. I didn't do any further investigating as they were working the way the should when I left on my last voyage.
AM/FM radio installed. I never actually turned it on, I don't usually listen to the radio in my old cars.
I have the original bezels and some extra parts, including a passenger side kick panel vent.
You can read all about my time with it here:
UNBREADED! '71 Monaco Wagon
Asking $7,000 with the Torque Thrusts,
or $5,500 with the original wheels and covers
Original wheels and covers go with it either way.
