My problem with modern liberalism as opposed to classical liberalism is the classical liberalism was a worthwhile academic exercise designed to promote creative and independent critical thinking where all opinions could be freely exchanged. Modern liberalism has been hijacked by socialists, communists, social justice warriors and others bent on teaching propaganda where dissent or contrarian opinions are not tolerated. Modern liberalism has essentially become a "conform or else movement". Note how skepticism is not allowed in the climate movement and how conservative speakers are banned from speaking at universities, the list goes on.... Modern liberalism of that type is not even liberalism by the classical definition. Our founding fathers were schooled in classical liberalism that taught the importance of keeping an open mind. Probably part of the reason that the founders are now under such virulent attack.

I tend to look at things from a broader perspective and not blame complicated circumstances on one thing. I already understood that you take the modern conservative approach.

The way I understand the definition of Conservatism is " To conserve the traditional way of life" preserving old school values and tradition. I think you've described the Right

Some of the "derailments" are fun but it's all the car threads turning in to political rantings that are getting old. There are enough threads that are political for everyone to voice their views and opinions. Those threads can be avoided by the members that don't come here to discuss politics. This thread was started to discuss a 73 Imperial and nothing in the title says otherwise. Red X coming from Dave in 3-2-1...

If a thread has ran its course and nothing else gets tossed in to keep the topic on subject, whats the difference? Threads here get derailed ALL THE TIME . Choosing subject matter of how it gets derailed and to on what shouldnt matter, not to a conservative anyway.

OK my question is did the thread run it's course or did people stop contributing because it turned so political? My feeling is knowing this group when an idiot yanks a 440 out of an Imperial and puts in a 318 we can bust on him for days. Seems to me he got off very easy.

If they stopped contributing because it got off topic thats on them.
Its very easy to pull it off the sidelines, quote the last thought relative to your thought and go. If people can't have a mixed discussion on one thread or if the thread changes and guys are scared away they probably shouldn't be on the internet but rather a landlines.

OK back to the matter at hand. With the original 440 included who thinks this is a good deal even with the engine swap? I do. I'm sure you could sell the running Poly for maybe $500. So now you're in to it 3G's. yeah it needs some rust repair (relatively minor) and some leather work but it would be fun to just drive it. Maybe take it to some local cruises? Maybe that poly has enough umphhh for fun cruising? Hell most guys here say leave the hood closed at shows anyway. Nobody has to know. 3 grand doesn't even buy you a lot of basket cases anymore.
