What the ad said and what the pics looked like.
Be interesting to see the ad now that I've seen the actuality.

Dave, I'm interested if you don't mind....what you're Dad paid for it. I'm trying to "slowly" get an idea what a reasonable actual price for pristine Fusie's are these days. PM me if you don't want to put it out on FCBO please. I would say from the pictures I've seen that your Dad's car is a condition 1 or the best condition 2 car on the planet. I won't settle for anything less than that condition for my next car. My NYB was a condition 4 or a very, very low condition 3 car, advertised for $3100 on C/L and I drove it away for $1800.

conditions and notes are difficult, Bob. A condition 1?
Dave Walden owns condition 1 cars but as soon as you drive it 500 miles it is not a "1" anymore.

True........but it's a solid condition 2 car.

That's an uncommon phrase these days...

I was expecting the NYB to be in a lot better condition for an asking price of $3100.......the antenna mast flew off as soon as I got her on I-83 and the right front brake hose collapsed and the caliper started dragging pretty bad a couple blocks from my house. I had a friend trailing with a truck and tow dolly if it didn't make it home. I did make it home under her own power.

. The originality of this car is what sold it, not particularly the color.

I go by that as well, bought a couple of cars in color combos I'd never even remotely think of when I could order such a car new. I feel you also have a bit of a duty to keep such a car in this outstanding original condition while also having some fun driving it; having seen the pics of your dad's former cars I guess he's in the same spirit.
Congrats to him.

The asking price was $7,800.00. This fellow wasnt budging and Dad didnt want to miss the opportunity, he's also not the bargaining type. He paid $7,500.00 for it, plus shipping. He's into it for a large amount, larger than most would consider but it is damn near perfect

Thanks for sharing Dave. I'm thinking between $7500-$9000 for a Fusie of that quality. The NYB is the last rusty car for me.

Did your Dad (and you) go look at it or did he buy from viewing the pictures? If you don't mind...what's not perfect on that gem. I looked at the pictures a good while and couldn't find a single thing wrong with it.

Nope, they sent me small photos via e-mail, about9 or 10. Some were from the craigslist ad so they werent yielding much information. They were almost 70 years old and you got a good feeling...dad went with it
