Also a Secret Service agent lives 4 miles from me and was in the motor pool, he took vin and will check it in their data base. They keep records on all the cars they have had and will let me know.

I saw the 1970 on eBay matched everything, color , options, hole in rear pass quarter panel. Also thought maybe a fleet car for members of government and visiting diplomats.

Can't make them all out but here's some info

Just so I'm sure it is a U code where on build sheet do I look? In the vehicle delivery and handling in the upper right corner? The vin is;
CS41T 4C182 547
And it was sold in Newport Vermont at Natole Motor Co Inc. I'm have a hard time loading anything.

thanks DCMC. the engine code is also in fifth position on VIN and fender tag you provided. it would be near top of build sheet in the "engine" box.

you have the "regular" 440 engine. the "U" would have been the high performance 440 the police used.

the special handling tag meant it still got factory build treatment different than most NYers. so its a "special" car in that regard as well as its own righr.

lots of really good pics - and SS ownership confirmation - would help you help it find a good home while the world is looking at it here :)

No disappointment here, the car is sharp and a attention getter. Especially in this condition.
Happy Holidays everybody.

I can't recall an E86 in any 1974 Chrysler. The cops had 400/350's (P code).

here's my former 1974 Monaco ... DK41U4, and E86. I think cops had 'em until the end after 1978. sorry about pic quality.

Yes a "T", good or not as good?

I wasn't implying your car was a disappointment. Far from it. It's great. I was only commenting on your question whether the U code vs T code was "good or bad"

IF the 440-HP was what somebody wanted in that car, they might try to keep looking. BUT the rest of my point was they might look FOREVER and not find another car like yours -- engine notwithstanding -- with its condition and pedigree.

So, its ALL GOOD in your case - in my opinion. :)

good luck. happy holidays to you as well

I didn't want anybody holding back thinking they would ruin my holiday, my glass is half full. Thanks to everybody in helping with info on the car and how we band together to help each other.
Happy Holidays!⛄

And now I have seen one. Thanks.
But he showed you an E86 in a Dodge, E86 would not be unheard of in a Plymouth or Dodge copcar, E86 ran thru the end of 78 for them.

I have never personally noticed any E86 Chryslers after 71, and by the big 74 facelift I would presume they were not available. The shiny car on page 1 just looks like a repainted HP aircleaner on a T-code, unless somebody knows differently.

The E86 was available in Formals too. In 72 Chrysler transitioned to Corporate blue for all engines (although some have demonstrated that some engines were still painted orange in 72). The dual snorkels in the Formal era were orange (non-LB) or black (LB).

Below is a data plaque for a 77 and an engine pic.

Some state police fleets did NOT use 440HP's (Michigan Staties were "P" code 400's) and Colorado maybe the same or just E85's i believe) in that '74-'77 C-body era.

1975 MSP Gran Fury .. not mine (couple typos in the sign). 400-HP P codes. They went to B-Bodies in 1976.

I thought Commando1's point was referring to "Chrysler Corp" in 1974, inclusive of the other brands.

I also have NOT seen a "Chrysler Badged" formal with E86 .. except in pics where the 1976 Newport Police car allegedly had them and for that year only, and then maybe these government "special" cars (FBI, Secret Service, etc.).

The air cleaner on my car is orange just came up red looking in that picture. It had a thin strip of a sticker on it that's gone but the numbers can still be made out, will post them another time as I won"T be home until Wednesday.
