The latest project in the shop 1978 Chrysler New Yorker low miles, rust free, and original. I'm fixing the auto temp a/c, tune up, complete repaint bright white, and removing the lean burn carb system for the new FITECH efi system

Interesting. Please document and post the FI conversion. I'll be watching.
Btw, how about some background on the car.

That is not a 1978. Wrong grill, vinyl top, mirrors, body stripes, tailights, etc. It's a 76 or 77.

Lucky you....

If it was a 78 you would have to fabricate a fix for the wipers too.

Looking forward to your FI conversion. Please post a lot of pictures please.

Nice car... I will be watching this too, I am way too cheap to try the FITech myself. Love the white, almost as much as black.

Please tell us how to repair the auto temp ac. I have that same system, and live in fear if it ever breaks down........

i have to be honest, i will also be watching to see how the conversion goes. Unlike most people, i don't swear AT ELB, i swear BY it. Especially on my '77 Cordoba, i never had a car that ran better. And i regularly recorded mileage between 18 and 25 MPG. Car had a 400 with a Thermoquad. i tried once to go away from OE, blew the mufflers off the car. Changed back fairly quickly... just seemed to work

Please post a lot of pictures and a step by step tutorial.

I believe several of us here would be interest in the Fi-Tech setup.

In my experience, ELB was either good or bad with no in between- even when new. My Dad`s 76 T&C gave him fits when new and my brother`s 78 NYB had stock ELB until 2004 and drove beautifully...he could pull off 20 mpg with that thing (but nobody believes me when I say it).

I had a 78 LeBaron that had the ELB. It was lousy to start with. But we got in there and found out what wrong - a choke that was set Way Way too heavy. Adjusted that and tweaked a few other things and it went from a rough running, bad gas mileage car to a smooth operator that got 25 mpgs easy!

So is the 'Texas Edition' something that came from Chrysler (can't imagine) or is it from the imagination of your customer? Either way, I'd say someone watched too much Boss Hoggs on the Dukes of Hazzard.

I just do what they request and when someone spends 30k totally going through a 77 New Yorker they can have it built exactly like they want.
