Is the Plymouth that was used by the owners widow to pay for his funeral and was for sale at a small car dealership or am I thinking of another car?

yes...outta missouri. widow caught with a bill to mortuary, mortuary sold to dealer.

the story of my purchase last year about this time is here somewhere.

81k original miles, 400-2V. five road wheels, original paint, one owner since new before the barter transaction.

i repaired AC and did four new tires ..thats all it needed.

oh yeah, still need DS fender wheel well molding (anybody with one lemme know please.

On the Salon, what ratio does the gear vendors provide in OD?

2.52 or 2.54 ... something like that (left my notes at work) in final drive.

Kip dialed up the 440 during rebuild too. she isnt "sprung or rubbered" tho to take full advantage of its top end capabilities.

apparently shes fun to drive:). he's got it set for automatic or on-demand GV engagement too.

my thoughts are to go back to stock configuration on gearing. but will decide that after tooling around for awhile.

I am still bleedin' like a stuck pig after getting hit by that "bus" :)
And lovin every minute of it...

Nice score, but I'm sorry to see Kip leave the fold of Formal owners. I have never wanted a Plymouth Formal more... And that Salon is a fitting end of the line to the 74's I love.

We really need the "you suck" smiley, again...

Ray? Ray Who? Never heard of the man.

Seriously, Ray is a man of action. From what I've seen over the years, hmoves quickly. Yep. I'm vouching for him.

you fellas know the behind the scenes stuff from our various PM's. I appreciate your (and others) advice and expertise. Thanks.

I do try to move quickly. but, usually after much planning and deliberation ... and willing to delay gratification while the plan comes together.

yeah, it means i miss out on things, but flip side it manages risks. risks in fact, however, that i dont have enough years left on the planet to address if i screw up.

I have admitted, many times as have others here .. I got the the "disease" if I had unlimited resources, i'd probably have 10,000 vehicles. Mainly strays that need saving for posterity .. but sometimes just stuff I always liked.:)

I am kinda done this year ..seriously .. with getting stuff. The 69 Newp will be here in a few days. This Salon a couple weeks later perhaps.

In the background, there's that bus. Actually going pretty good so far ..updates to Scenicrusin' thread coming soon :)

Congrats Ray! Sorry to see another C Body heading South but it's going to a very worthy home!

The fender tags and door stickers of the two cars in this thread have never been shown. The 1978 New Yorker could even participate in the "last C-body contest".

Ray, please PM me about the Plymouth. I would be very interested. The Dodge RMB is my first choice in a Formal, bit the Plymouth is so, so close to it.

NP .. i can do that.. i am foggy however on the "last C body" contest (someone just point me to the thread)?

hey patrick .. thanks.

5 members (you were one) have written me about the GF since I marketed it last October. I am keeping a list in order of contacts with me.

nothing has materialized yet. NOT dissin' anybody to be clear.

all i want is what i have in it (minus transportation .. where I was vs. the car when I bought it should not be a deal element in my opinion, and minus the AC fix which was just a few lbs or R12 and four new tires under my ownership). All that to say I believe I am seeking a fair price for it to another FCBO member vs looking to profit a single penny.

if i overpaid for it, then that's my problem to deal with .. might need to hold it another 40 years in that case, or submit it to another market test to a worldwide audience on FeeBay or something.

seriously tho , i'd be glad, however to "discuss" your thoughts via PM whenever you want and report to you your position in line, then take it from there :)

I can vouch for Kip's work too. At $5000 this car was stolen! As I recall Kip mentioned the 440 was putting out @ 400 hp while looking totally stock by the time he got done with it.

yeah, he swapped a few hard parts (did 906 heads, and rotating assembly enhancements, etc).

by description of the parts and machine work he did, and based on other projects I have done/seen, 400 ponies is easy to get out of a pump-gas 440.

sort of a Formal version of a "gentleman's hot rod* moniker that was lost in the smog era --- looks stock, but is not"

whatever the HP truly is, its safe to say she's stouter than stock in any event and wirh sjx speeds it can out-drive "S" rated tires..so i will just stick to posted speed limits :)

Short interior vid from Kip and a driver seat pic.

Video walk-around. I have deleted the narration as it was Kip talking to me directly about stuff .. you'll get the drift regarding the car though.

You just made my day!

Apart from police cars, fender tags for formal Plymouths are hard to come by.
