235 70 or 235 75, that is the question

What do you think is better on a 70 SF? The original H70-15 tires seem to have a height of 28.1". 235 70 are 27.95". 235 75 are 28.88".

I keep seeing differing opinions on which is better. I didn't even think about the 235 70s until someone mentioned them this AM in another post.

About to order my tires and want to get what looks best.

Thanks

The only fair photo I have on my device , these are 235 70s on the front. 255 70 on the rear

Who even can spot a difference between those tires? :D
Not so much from the side, but considerably more from the front. The cross-section of the 75 is generally more "bulbous", with the 70 having wider tread and consequently a larger contact patch.

That is good to know the 70 has a wider tread and larger contact patch.

I went with the Hankook Optimo H725 235 70. Not too bad on price. $378 shipped.

The 60 series tire has a lower side profile which in my opinion looks ridiculous on a Fuselage. ..scratch that, any C body

Yet you indicated a "like" on my post of the TQDs on my Newport. The tires are 60s. Did you like the wheels but hate the tires?

In what size?

Here's a comparison. Mounted on the same wheel, same car,

the 245/60 ,

Wheels before and after 008.jpg

then the 235/70

The lower profile of the 60 looks wrong. I made the mistake of putting them on my brown car . Experience thought me better

Charts I'm seeing have the 245 60 with a height of only 26.57". That's on the small side.

60 is the ratio of % to the tread width. A 60 series tire will always have a smaller diameter than a 70
