26k-Mile 1977 Dodge Royal Monaco Brougham
This 1977 Dodge Royal Monaco Brougham is finished in Vintage Red Sunfire Metallic over Verdi velour and is optioned with the Diplomat Package, which included a padded roof with a stainless-steel band insert. It also has the Luxury Equipment Package that included air conditioning, cruise control, a vinyl roof, a power bench seat, power windows, three-speed windshield wipers, and more. The car was purchased new at Humphries Motor City in Delaware, Ohio on August 19, 1977 and reportedly stayed with the original owner until his passing in 2017. A collector in Texas bought it shortly thereafter, and approximately 300 miles were driven prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition less than two months ago. The car now shows just over 26k miles and is powered by a 400ci V8 paired with a 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This full-size Dodge is now offered by Cascadia Classic in Portland, Oregon with records from 1977–2017, original sales paperwork, the shipping notice, an owner’s manual, and a clean Texas title.
The Diplomat Package was offered only on the Royal Monaco Brougham two-door hardtop model. The padded roof and other exterior details are highlighted in the photo gallery below. This car is finished in Vintage Red Sunfire Metallic (E8) and was also optioned with a rear defroster, cornering lights, and fender-top turn-signal indicators.
Factory wheels remain equipped with chrome covers and are currently mounted with thin whitewall tires. The trunk compartment is also shown in the gallery and contains a full-size spare assembly. Within the past two months the seller had an alignment performed and replaced one of the front brake calipers.
The Verdi velour upholstery is complemented by color-matched carpeting and trim. This car is optioned with a power seat, cruise control, power windows, power locks, and air conditioning. The previous owner reportedly converted the air conditioning to R134a and replaced the compressor and dryer. A recharge of the system was completed after the seller’s purchase.
The five-digit odometer shows 26,100 miles, of which the selling dealer has added approximately 100. The fuel gauge is inoperable, though the seller claims that other instrumentation works correctly.
The 400ci V8 features a stock Carter ThermoQuad carburetor and sends power to the rear wheels through a 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission.
This car is said to have received an application of Ziebart rust inhibitor when new. Additional underside pictures are displayed in the gallery.
Included documentation dates back to sales paperwork in August 1977. According to the seller, a 1998 insurance policy record with JC Taylor shows that the car was being used as a collector vehicle and driven sparingly by that time.
The advance dealer shipping notice lists delivery to Humphries Motor City in Delaware, Ohio. Including all optional equipment, this Dodge carried an $8,211 MSRP
