How come the fender tag is a different color or has aged differently than the rest of the rad support?

Do I have to raise bullshit flag?

I think my 40% figure is pretty accurate. Which is extremely high for any car. It's based on recorded VIN's of known cars and cars that have been on market in the last 20 years. Many cars recorded have come up for sale a number of times in the last 20 years.

Of the 40% that have survived, most are still unrestored project cars or parts cars.

Known examples of original cars, and restored cars are rare.

It is extremely high. I've been doing these C body/ Mopar message boards for 20 years and I've seen a lot of Hurst cars over those 20. Even the newer guys to the boards mock the commonality of the Hurst cars.

I presume it could be the same fifteen cars over and over again. I personally do not pay attention to the numbers on these all that much.
Many many years ago I wanted one. Over time they've lost their luster to me

I thought the same thing, but I zoomed in and looked at it very carefully. It's the same.

I guess if your not looking for one, they don't seem rare, but if your looking for one they are a needle in a haystack. A friend of mine has a nice original one & I'm positive it's not in any registry. It's a neat car, but not something I stay up at night & think about. Maybe if it had a Hurst floor shifter. It is a Hurst car after all.

The top of the radiator support should be white to match the car. Unless that was standard for the Hurst cars, it doesn't surprise me that the tag was painted too. You want to match the VIN with the rest of the car.

There was a Hurst car not too far away from me. I looked at it 30-35 years ago and it was rough and the owner wanted too much money for it. I always wondered what happened to it..... When I bought my 300, the PO threw in some extra parts... from that 300H! I have the fenders and the gold grille.

I do understand life sometimes builds insurmountable obstacles, so you have to give up your dreams. So he ends up trying to sell all three, instead of restoring any of them. But:

A quote from the previous "ricksaw thread":
The car sold a few days after the last ad in july for the 2500 to a hurst enthusiast outside of Philadelphia... the car is in a nice home with two others as well as he has 2 more off property. my car being a more solid candidate will get a restoration with donations from a rustyed hurst he has.

So... there were supposed to be these three, and two more?

Not that really matters but I was thinking more on the lines that the fender tag is actually from a different car. That thing is painted gloss black while the rest of the rad support is old, dusty, rusty and grayish and shows its age.

Why would anyone, unscrew the tag, blast it, repaint it and screw it back on, when doing so could raise suspicions. I've got 11 cars and never have I even thought about pulling any one of their tags. That shiny black tag sticks out like a sore thumb. Unless I could see that the vin matches the fender tag I've still got one hand on the bull **** flags lanyard.
