300 conversion

That would be cool, but, anyone who knew better would know it's not "real." It's like our Gremlin; I've had people come up at shows and say, "They never put a 410 in a Gremlin!" My answer is, "They never put a four-speed in either." They do a double-take.

(However, there is a little untruth there; Randall AMC of Arizona did, indeed, build fifty '72 Gremlins with 401s. They were not "factory," but they did come with factory 401 emissions stickers. All were automatics.)

yeesh...$40K...and you have to wonder why some guys consider bolting 300 grills and bumpers on Newports? Bad idea in the long run I guess, still $40K is a very steep number.. just to trailer it around to car shows.

You would end up with something that's neither a Newport nor a 300. The Newport looks terrific as a Newport but that's just my personal taste; I prefer my cars to be bone stock.

Just do it. I got 300 grille and front lights already. Just need front bumper, fillets, parking light assys and tail lights.
But i keep Newport rear quarter text.
This will be Newport with 300 grille + lights and interior will be mix of Newport and New Yorker

I understand well why people want to convert Newports into 300s. It has nothing to do with cloning.

Hidden headlights just are so much more sexy! LOL

Oh, and my vert is not a clone, it's a real 300 allright...
