69 chrysler 300 standard 440 not TNT. Car has 38,000+ on odometer I believe it has rolled over based on the rest of the car. I have no history on whether the motor was previously rebuilt. I have had the car about a year and been working on it slowly. Car runs pretty good but under initial acceleration can feel a bit gutless.

I know I know I should have changed the plugs when I first got it probably but am just now getting it done.

See the pic below for compression numbers and the associated spark plug. Those plugs looked awful.

Do these numbers look good? They at least seem consistent.

Also does anyone have any recommendations on plug wires? I have some ordered that will be at o'Reilly tomorrow but figured I'd ask if anyone had recommendations.

plugs don't look too bad. they should have a nice even tan color to them. the right bank numbers are a little low. #6 especially. might be time for a valve job, but if it runs well, i don't see anything that needs immediate attention

Hi,If it were Mine I would give it a Good Tune-up (Plugs, wires cap rotor, points & set timing)check for oil leaks and replace gaskets as needed. Then drive it a while and see how it runs. Maybe a rebuilt Carb.at some point. Those Comp.numbers don't look too bad.

Those numbers look fairly uniform, except on number 6 of course. Don't know what's happening there but I could live with it if the motor is running smooth enough.

If shoot some oil into #6 and it jumps up then it is compression rings for that cylinder.
If it does not then it is a valve issue..

Usual reading shuld be within 10% but I have seen worse nad they engine plugged along ok
