Hi All,

How can I tell if the 65 wagon I am working on has sure grip rear end? Can I tell from the fender tag or is there a tag on the reared?

Thanks---Arthur

There does exist a little round Sure-Grip tag that they put on the rear end, pumpkin bolts, and a seperate one for the ratio. Many times they are gone tho.

As said, there should be tags but could be gone or unreadable, fender tag would have the code. But saving that, easiest way to find out, just to make sure it hadn't been swapped out in 50+ years. Get both rear wheels off the ground and turn the tires, if they rotate in the same direction, it's a sure grip

Going based on my 1966 knowledge, the fender tag does not have the code for a suregrip listed. If you have the Certicard, it will have the letters "SA" for Standard Axle or "SG" for SureGrip.

Just like 68 4spd Fury said , both tires off the ground spin the driveshaft. Both tires will spin the Same direction. If your looking for a good center section. I have stock 742 Dana Power lock { Sure Grips ] For sale.

Hi. How much...and what size. I have a 323, that sounds like it has a bearing issue. I won't know for a few more weeks when I finish the front end, and move to the back. But I'd like to get a number in my head to decide if I want to rebuild, or buy new. I only have a single car garage, with no work bench.... So a rebuild might be out of the question for me.

You can PM me if you want. I don't mind either way.

Thanks. Merry Christmas.

JR
