65 Polara 500 426 What is it worth?

Sorry, but I'm not going to be the one to ask an 80 year old who probably doesn't know what a broadcast sheet is, to tear apart his car in search of one.

Why is the tag a different color? Is the tag the original color? Why is it screwed on and not riveted? I know the likely answers but I'm too lazy to look it up...Fender Tag Assistant!! Doug? Help?

A couple of thoughts...

1) This is a little out of my realm but I'll see what I can do.
2) Some plants are known to have painted the car without the tag attached to the car during paint. 69 Lynch Road comes to mind. That's why the tag may be a different color. I do not know what plant this car came from but I have seen a 'mismatched' tag/color car before. It could be they are from the same plant and that's how they did it at that particular plant.
3) I haven't seen tags affixed to a car with rivets until the 67 model year and only on cars from the Belvedere Plant (Dodge and Plymouth C bodies)
4) Questions like this are EXACTLY why more tag pictures, documents and other items need to be saved for C bodies instead of thrown out. If we had more documentation, we could definitively say "Oh, that's no big deal. That's just how the Newark plant did it for 1965".

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, get the actual, or pictures of, fender tags, broadcast sheets, window stickers, certicards, etc from cars. There were fewer C bodies than A, B or E bodies so there are fewer examples to start with. Every car that gets parted out and the history destroyed because "no one cares about C bodies" is one less piece of the puzzle for questions like this.

That's not what I was suggesting. I just figured he would have all the documents stashed away.

If one wants to command a premium price, they must be meticulous. Most potential sellers make no effort, yet are overly demanding of potential buyers, thinking people will fight to pay the prices they see on TV auctions (usually different optioned cars). I see little care of this car. There is exposed rust that should have been at least treated to halt further deterioration. There appears to be a crack thru the paint on the passenger side, perhaps Bondo underneath. It could just be dirt, but then that would be silly to take photos for buyers without washing a car. How many times do you see craigslist car ads w/ leaves on the hood that would have taken 5 sec to brush off? Might think that is a buying opportunity, but often indicates an irrational seller. You also see cars advertised "selling for a friend", which always raises questions, i.e. "please don't beat me up when you find the car was mis-represented".
