That is sweet and can be saved.
I love those cars too. I was in negotiations for this 65 880 convertible when I located Jazebelle. The owner was dragging his heels in communications and lost the sale.
It would have been a great stable mate to my 65 Coronet 500 convertible.
I'm really happy with the 300 but still think about this one.

I saw that one, good color, but I'm not really looking for an 880, and if I remember correctly the ad states "all options" or something like that, and just from the pictures the car doesn't have p/w, and I don't think it had a/c either(not sure on that one though). Why is it that I see so many '65's with the right front bumper bottom corner yanked out, like the car was tied down and they twisted the bumper ?
Last year I researched a '65 300-L Convertible that had the same fender tag code for the engine (indicated as standard engine). It appears that the engine in the car I looked at was the engine associated with the model / trim level. The car definitely had a 413 cu. in. engine, but there was no separate code indicating that.
Yeah the code thing that I have calls the 99 code the "standard engine" also, now does that mean any of the regular available engines, or does it mean the base engine ? The Cali. emissions had to available on the rest of the engines, I've never seen anything that says a certain engine wasn't available in Cali.
Now on the 300-L I can understand the 99 code, the 413 was the only engine you could get in that car, correct ?
This car was pretty basic as far as options. No A/C,windows, seat, a/m radio etc. Just the normal stuff like power brakes and steering.
I think the bumper is just an illusion. Other pictures I have show it to be OK.
It was in the San Francisco area.

See my post #22 above. Hope that may help.

Yes. I think so. . . However, at Carlisle two years ago I saw a 65 300-L coupe with what appeared to be a 413 max wedge engine. Owner said Govier told him the car was legit and very very rare. . .

I'd take that with a grain of salt.......

I have no idea if that car has the broadcast sheet or not, but judging by the condition of the car I wouldn't bank on it.
Oh well, I guess I'll just keep looking for a car. Thanks for all of the info.

I think I'd take that with a truck load of salt !
