66 fury j code 440 4 speed wagon. numbers matching factory disc brakes and stuff.

a few more things done. made an engine torque rod. refurbished my ugly lead battery cable ends. cleaning up and refurbishing my wiring harnesses. installed a bunch of stuff on the engine getting ready to fire it up again, been about three years since it was ran and broke in at the engine builders. lubed the **** out of the rockers before I put the valve covers back on. going to prime the oiling system before I fire it up again. installed an msd and almost ready to go. heres a few picks.

Is that torque rod of your design, or is it a factory piece? The reason I ask is that I made a mod to the factory motor mounts on my cars to avoid having to lock things down with a rigid torque rod - it still allows the motor mount to isolate the passengers from vibration under normal driving, but locks up upon hard accelleration and prevents the mount from being pulled apart. Unless one removes the mounts it's nearly impossible to see the mod. By the way, the work you're doing is stellar. I can't wait to see the wagon in its glory!

thanks ross. I pretty much duplicated a torque rod that I bought from shumacher for my 65 barracuda 340. I had a turnbuckle. I dilled out the left hand thread end and tapped it 7/16 fine thread for the heim end. I ground down 2 3/8 nuts on an angle and drilled the threads out of one . this way I could line up the bolt straight up because the frame bracket is on an angle. yes it doesn't allow the engine to move but I like the way my 340 kind of rocks the barracuda. I like your idea
 
Cool - what year might they have started installing them? And as well, what are people's opinion of the actual effectiveness of such an arrangement? A crimped ring connector onto a 1/8" braided wire rope doesn't look like it would truly hold up, but I could be wrong. Anybody have a part number?
 
I purchased this years ago, part # was attached as you see it. I don't have a parts book old enough to check it out.

OK, a 29XX-XXX is much too late for a 66, unless that's a supercede from an older number. Typically 66 part numbers don't go much into the 28XX range.

I'm going to see if I can find out when Ma Mopar started using this, my 72 Police car uses an L shaped bracket on the left side to achieve the same thing.
 
a little more progress. 95 percent of under hood wiring and stuff done. easier now than leaning over fenders which I will be installing soon. started repairing steering wheel. borrowed a set of rear rims and tires from a friend to check offset and clearances. they are 28.0

/ 10.5/15. they are big and fat and fit. I can put my hand between the outer tire and fenderwell and still have about an inch and a half clearance between the leaf spring on the inside. now I know what wheels to order. these fsms sure make life easy when your memory is going and cant remember what went where when you took **** apart years ago. also thought I would share the broadcast sheet I found a while back in the back seat upholstery. hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
