Hello all,
Am getting to the point when I will need to purchase Wheels and tires, my questions to you all are: a) what wheel and tire size are you running with the skirts? b) What is the largest you can fit without? I would love to see your combos. I was thinking 17x8 with 4.5 bs with 235’s if I go without skirts, comments? Thank you,
Rob.

My two cents, but don't take the skirts off. While I truly dislike added skirts, I really dislike seeing a car that came with them from the factory without them. Ever seen a '57 T-Bird without its skirts? Just looks wrong, IMO. Same for any mid-'60s Mopar without them. Again, my opinion, but don't do it; find a set of wheels that will fit behind them.

Thank you for the reply Snotty, am open to keeping the skirts, therefore my question in regard to what 66 Fury owners have for Wheels, I would like to know largest size possible with skirts, pictures will be great!

As for tire width, take the OEM size and convert that number in to "metric". For example, 8.55x14 would be about 218mm section width. The Chrysler wagons usually had 9.00x14, which would be 228.6mm section width. I've seen P235/75x15 tires on '66 New Yorkers with W23 Road Wheels that fit "as stock", so that width is pretty close. I know that when brushing the whitewalls on my '66 Newport (8.55x14s), there was not much clearance between the wheel well and the tire, as my hand on the brush discovered. The OTHER hard point in the architecture is the leaf spring, inner sidewall clearance. On the front, it's the outer tie rod end and the inner sidewall of the tire.

ALSO, don't forget to allow for some lateral body movement on the suspension in corners and such.

8" might end up being a little wide, so don't hesitate to use 7" wide rims, if that's what it takes, You'll probably NOT notice the difference, other than probably a little less cost. B/S is key, though.

Thank you for the reply, am looking at a Torque Thrust set, 17x7 4.25 BS with 1/4" offset, I would love to use them, however not being close to the car and not being able to drive the car, makes it hard trying to fit them. If anyone with a 66 Fury is using them, I would love to hear from you, Thank you again,
Rob.

My 65 had 15x8 4.25 BS with 275/50/15 tires.
The skirts would fit on mine no problem.
17x7 should be no problem.

Well I got a set of 20x 9.5 and 20x 8 on my 66

Very nice, what BS did you use, any rubbing on the skirts or springs, tire size? Thank you that’s what I was looking for!
Rob.
