The problem arose when there was a 140 character limit on text messages, so everything had to be shortened to fit. Now that the limit is off, nobody wants to back and start adding all the extra keystrokes.LOL, join the club!! Or, is that JTC?
That is not uncommon, but still sad. We would get that on papers from Ministerial Candidates on the Board of Ordained Ministry; many of whom were Grad School graduates.My buddy was at a technical college and the teacher told the students they had to spell the complete words they were using. Sadly, a lot of them didn't and used textspeak, and failed the class.
