I have no back up lights on my car, where is the switch? It is a 66 polara auto on the column. It's not on the trans. :sSig_thanks:

They put the backup lamps switch either on the transmission, as part of the neutral safety switch (outer 2 wires of the 3) or on the shift mechanism. The later was usually only for floor shifters I think. Verify that your NSS does not have 3 wires. If it does, your statement above is incorrect.

It's not a 3 wire it's a single wire and it's a column shift
Interesting. My 65 Newport is auto tranny, column shift and the backup lamps switch is on the NSS (3-wire type), at least that is what I recall and the tranny was out in 2001. My 65 Dart is floor shift and has the NSS on the shifter. Indeed, that is the first time I recall seeing a 1-wire NSS. I would guess your NSS must be on the column shifter. Perhaps the switch is in the engine bay and they run the wires back thru the bulkhead connector. I recall seeing that option in wiring diagrams (dashed lines).
