I'm looking to see if these heater boxes are interchangeable ? I have a 67 Fury non A/C and my heater box is model 712, I have the chance to purchase a non a/c heater box from a 66 Fury heater box 735. I'm wondering what the differences are and will it bolt into my car. My thought process was to rebuild the 735 box and be able to just swap the boxes to lessen the down time as my garage is not big enough to work in so I have to do this work outside. As far as I can find out the heater cores look to be the same, the gasket kit looks to be the same. Blower motors don't look to be the same as best as I can tell. But I can't find anything about the actual heater boxes themselves.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Pete.

If you go to mymopar.com you can download the parts catalogs. Then look up and compare the part numbers. You can then decipher which parts are the same. The actual box would be the determining factor as the attaching parts can be changed to what fits your car.

Just off the cuff here but I would think it would bolt up but you might run into trouble with clearances for radio, glove box and the length of the cables. I know that the 67-68, (though you wouldn't think so), were different in cables. The 67 used three, the 68 had two and the control was different.

Perhaps also look at illustrations in the factory service manuals at www.mymopar.com? For comparison purposes. Sometimes that can work.

Chasing part numbers CAN work, BUT also consider that if the OEMs might change ONE DETAIL in a part, it will generate a new part number for them. Using a Hollander Interchange Manual (which all of the salvage yards used to have on their shelves!) can be a better resource for interchangeability and "what differences" can be made to make something fit.

Thanks for the information and I will look into the Hollander books and the 66 parts manual. Honestly I did completely forget about Hollander interchange. If I have any other questions on this or find out anything good I will add it to this post.

I looked in the '66 and '67 parts catalog. I'd say the housings are the same. #2837408

I think the boxes were pretty much all the same for a few years. If your 67 Fury uses Vacuum controls instead of cables, I may be have the one you need. I have had it for sale on this site for years. I removed it from a 66 Chrysler Newport. The box has a 744 number. There are pictures in the "for sale" on this site if you want to compare pictures with yours. Mine would not need a rebuild. The car had 19K miles on it from new. Type in "C body non A/C heater box" to view it.
