About this vehicle

This 1968 Chrysler Newport is a classic car with a lot of history. It has been well-maintained and has only minor signs of wear and tear. The exterior has been updated with a fresh coat of paint and the drivetrain has been improved for better performance. This vehicle is perfect for anyone looking to own a piece of automotive history. The blue color is eye-catching and the mileage of 6025 is impressive. Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this clean and well-maintained car.

Vehicle Details

This super clean rust free 68 Newport custom fast back was donated to a national charity in 2014 in the dry state of Texas. It was sent to be sold at a auto auction where we purchased it. It was originally pea green and we completely disassembled it and painted it panel by panel. It is a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix blue. We've included the paint code for if ever needed. The interior is near mint condition. It has a 8. 3/4 rear and 727 transmission. We bored the 383. 30 over and put new crank and pistons along with a nice sounding street cam. Custom dual exhaust old school offenhauser dual 4 intake. Edlebrook carburetor. New staggered 18 inch riddler wheels. Aluminum radiator. We finished this car in 2016 and it's only sat on our showroom floor, as seen by the sticker still on the tires. New vinal top. The air conditioning parts and other original parts are in the trunk. We would suggest having it looked over good before making a long drive.

I don't know about you, but these AI-written 'about this vehicle' paragraphs are so lame to me. But the seller's description after that is actually worse.
It was originally green, so we painted it blue and left the interior as green.
The interior is near mint - if you ignore the tears in the passenger seat.
We finished it in 2016 and it's been stored inside the entire time, yet it has managed to get some rust bubbles, and the crust at the bottom of the rear window wasn't addressed.
The AC parts are in the trunk - because when we rebuilt the engine we were too lazy to reinstall the AC and get it operational.
But when we had the engine out, we took the time to spray everything with bedliner, including all the stuff on the firewall. We wrapped the wiring harness with plain electrical tape - you can deal with that later when it starts peeling off.
And we installed some custom carb linkage that is seriously hillbilly, we're not sure if the rear carb even opens. But at least we disconnected the carbs from that silly linkage that goes to the trans.
We put on 18" wheels and tires, but we ran out of $$ to get matching lugnuts.
We raised it up with our rollback's stinger until the rear bumper hit the ground, just so's you can see nothing noteworthy.

And we're asking $20,500 for this gem of a car.

This car left the factory as a Custom and with buckets and console from the 300 (presumably that was factory-installed).
If they had painted it the factory color (or at least a complementary color like silver or gold) they might've had a chance to get somewhat-near that price?
But not now.

Looks like the floorpan took a sizable hit from something (a forklift, perhaps?).
And here's a closeup of that carb linkage. I would anticipate something to fail on it during the drive home.
I like how the PCV is tied into *both* carbs. Just for good measure, I guess.
And the vacuum advance isn't hooked up.
And the coil seems to be held on by plumber's strapping.

Interestingly enough, there's what appears to be a Borgeson steering box hiding in there.
I presume was done by a prior owner, current seller seems to only take things in the wrong direction.

This is the fender tag, some of it's hard to read. I came up with "Medium Copper Metallic" & a Green vinyl top, which makes a strange combination too. Some one else can take a crack at it maybe come up with better information.

Changing gears - I saw what I think might be your avatar car FS on ebay recently? Yours?
No, looks just like it though. Mine had a console and tilt wheel. That one looks nice but I'm guessing there is allot of Bondo in those quarters. It also looks like the heater controls are frozen up, (mine had that issue too). You'd think if asking $33k they address these things.

"Had' - you no longer own it?

Glad to hear this one isn't/wasn't yours. The quarterpanels and that way-too-short rocker trim make this car awful IMO. Terrible work.
They did a good job flattening/smoothing the panels, but everything below the wheel lips is kaput.

For those wondering:
The circled body creases fade away in the factory metal, someone made these 'blend out' in bondo.
Those creases are too sharp, the upper one curves downward and should remain straight on the quarterpanel. And the lower one goes too far forward by a few inches.
The body line on the rear of the passenger door got softened for some reason, it should carry straight into the quarterpanel.
There's a notch in the quarterpanel by the rear bumper, it should be a straight vertical line. The crease heading toward the rear bumper starts to go downhill too much, and it should blend in, not stay sharp.
And the overall bottom of the quarterpanel is ~1" too low at the rear, creating another discontinuity.
Correct geometry shown in example pic at the bottom.

It's one of those things - if you know the body lines well, the flaws on this one scream out at you.
(with that said, my quarterpanels aren't perfect either, but mine isn't posing for pictures)
Rant off.
