Hi guys Im on the bubble here in the pre 68 forum. I've found myself a nice barn find with this 68 Newport custom 2 door hard top. I'm looking for the right forum to introduce the car and maybe get some resto advice. This car is all original numbers matching with original fender tag. It has the 2 barrel 383 big block...290hp. Im the 2nd owner as the original owner finally gave her up after 45 years but the car has been in storage for close to 25 of those years. All badging, chrome trim and body parts are original. I Believe the original color is aqua marine with matching interior. The faded paint appearance in the pics is actually just dust, wipes right off as it has just emerged from the garage. It has some wear and tear but it was appraised locally here in Sudbury Ontario.at $4500 so I believe i'm off to a good start. I picked it up for a decent $3000 and the car will certify as is or with little trouble and runs on first turn of the key. I'll be starting to work on it this winter with some interior work and getting the body as straight as possible before paint and an engine rebuild and a switch to a 4 barrel set up. Worth a $3000 investment?

Nice find, welcome to the site from the Motor City!
love the color combo on that fast top!

Welcome to the site. Ok,..MAN that is sweet..! Looks like you are going to have a nice project on your hands. What are your plans for it? How is the interior? Can you post some more pictures please. Congrats on the find!

:busted:

Welcome and congrats on the car! Please post some updates as you work on it.

Thanks guys, definately not selling it after looking for years to find one...I'm currently developing a plan for a full restoration probably on a 5 year plan to get her to 100% the way I want. I know original keeps and adds to the value but as much as I love the car, I completely dislike the color and interior color. I'm seriously considering military blue which is a 1968 chrysler color and a gun metal grey interior. I have a shop near by that can redo the interior I just have to sell my kid and a few heirlooms to pay for body, paint and interior. I'll post pics as i go to show progress. If anybody knows of known issues or of a known mopar guru in Ontario anywhere any advice would be hugely valuable to me and appreciated!!! :sSig_thanks:

Welcome Steve. I grew up in Soo Ont. myself so I know how hard it is to find a treasure like you did that didn't end up rotting out years ago in Northern Ontario. In my opinion you have found something very rare to see on the road these days but not so rare as you should worry about changing colo(u)rs and such to make it more of what you want. Nice car and welcome. I am just an A body owner right now myself (68 Barracuda Formula S) looking for a good C body and would have gladdly paid $3000 for the car you have. Nice find!

Had to edit my post....I just thought I have an A looking for a C does that mean I am looking to get a Mopar Augmentation?
