68 Newport, thinking of donig a vinyl top. Thoughts???

I'll throw my two cents in here too (on the '68). Personally, if a car didn't come with a vinyl top I wouldn't put one on it, even though I do like the looks of them. The main reason I wouldn't install one is the rust issues and the cracking, shrinking and peeling over time. However, if your car is going to be stored indoors and isn't going to be your daily driver, those things probably won't be a problem. Like someone else said though, in order for it to look right, you will need to get the chrome trim pieces. Since you are going with the factory style wheel covers, I think the dark blue vinyl would probably look best if you decide to go with vinyl.:)

It's your car do what you want with it, just don't backlash when you ASKED for others opinions and didn't get the answer YOU wanted.

In the end it's YOUR car do what YOU want.

My 4 cents worth (2 cents didn't seem enough)

I dont feel as I was back lashing..I respect all opinions. I have read dozens and dozens of threads on here. Many of you gents know each other, and quite frankly are very vocal and opinionated. If its not stock or the way your car is its not cool. I totally get it..But it takes all kinds to make the world go round..I was mearly just asking you guys, cause you guys are the experts..I love both looks, and was just asking. For now I have decided to leave it painted and go with what you guys said
. Relax

Thanks Sled...this thing gets a **** load of attention from the traditional crowd. Its actually going to be accepted at a local show here in Portland that is pre 64. The promoters love this car and its look and stance..It will be amongst some killer rides..

The Weather has been beautiful here in Oregon the last few days.. Got her polished up and put over 100 miles on her yesterday. She ran perfect with no hicups. Touch up paint arrived in the mail today, and after a quick spot check its a dead match. Gonna touch up the roof, finish a few other small repairs and order some different hub cabs. After this picture I put on the stock Hubcaps and decided to run them for a while.. View attachment 10919
