'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Thanks Stan and Dave, got a chance to talk to my body man again today and finally 100% arrange what will be done when. Because of course he's doing my car as a favor to me, I'm working around other jobs he's doing, so we came up with a plan, Next weekend I'll bring it up and he'll do the Firewall and spray it in color, I'll leave the fenders, head panel, hood and trunk lid with him, and I'll come and bring it back, while he's doing other jobs he'll work on my panels and then I'll bring the car back up to him (hopefully I'll have it running and driving, I plan to pop the motor and trans back in and do the brakes when I get it back) and he'll do the rest of the body and we'll hang the sheet metal, and I can finish off putting it back together.

Sound great! It is a nice feeling to have a plan. Good luck with the time frame, its the best feeling when you get some fresh paint on the car.

I'm actually not getting it painted yet, just going to Jam it and leave it in primer till the spring, I'm his first car next spring, he'll have it from May till June, when I bring it home it will be painted, cleared, cut and buffed.

You just lost me entirely. The U.S. and Canada fought a war with these bastards and you reward them by buying a ******* truck from them???? Doesn't MATTER where the goddamn thing was made, the PROFITS from that truck go to JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!!

And then you have the total ******* gall to put your "U.S. Army Retired" sticker on it?!?!?!?!?

Converting to Islam too ?

Who manufactured the computer/phone that you used to post that comment?

Put yourself in his shoes. Twenty years from now we are all buying Iraqi or Afghan stuff and buddy buddy with them.

Where is the loyalty

While at the Mopars the the Battleship show, we went to tour the USS Alabama. There was an old vet doing a book signing. There was nobody around so I walked up and asked him about his book. He explained he was in the Bataan death march. His name is Col. Frazier, and he showed me the cover of his book, showing him in a picture taken by the Japanese the first day. He told me before MacArthur ran them out of supplies, the Japs were intentionally bombing civilian hospitals. After the surrender, the march was started. The older, higher ranking officers were not given any food or water for days, and when they stumbled and fell were shot or stabbed on the spot. He also said men were lined up abreat walking down the road. The Jap troops would drive by and hold bayonets out between the slats of the stakebeds, cutting and maiming troops as they went by. On some occasions, the trucks would just plow through the lines of men going 40 or so mph, sending men flying. A young pregnant woman attempted to give a soldier water. A Jap soldier seen it, came over, bayonetted her, cut her baby out and killed it, and sent her 7 year old daughter who watched the whole thing away.
He went on to tell me about being a pow for a few years, and the barbarity he endured. He said the hate for the Japanese consumed much of his life,he had a successful life monetarily, but suffered bad dreams, excessive drinking, failed marriages.
I asked him how he finally forgave the Japanese for their part, and he gave credit to praying for help and the bible.
It's a good book if you like history. Our soldiers were/are true heros.
If a country can't be won with force, it can be won with economics. I would have to think that intelligent men have, and are trying to do that to our country aa.jpg

Thats all well and good but if there isnt a god then the bible is just a fictitious tale made up by man and praying is a fools way to make it all better

Guys, this is such a great project to follow, I would humbly suggest we take this geopolitical talk to another spot to avoid messing up this thread.

I think the carpet thread would be a good spot for this and then I won't plan to revisit it.

Damn, Nick, you've really made some progress on that car. I still just can't believe you did all that in a muddy little tent during a Canadian winter.

This could be one of those Canadian documentaries that flood cable TV. Nick, you should have had some student majoring in cinema following you around. LOL

What can I say, I'm the type of guy that if he wants to do it or wants it, it'll be done or I'll get it.

Didn't catch anything but a bowrider, he caught my line going by, so other than that, I didn't catch anything, my fishing buddy did catch a nice 3 1/2 pound hunk of seaweed though.

Nick

The Kayaking, and 4 wheeling was good though.
