I’m on 1968 Imperial I didn’t realize that there were lightbulbs inside the front corners of the grill. I just happen to see one of them on. I took them apart to replace them with LEDs, and now neither one of them work even when I replaced the factory bulb back in it that was working. Does anyone know if these are 6V bulbs? The reason I ask is because that’s what I found whenever I researched what was in there. Is the entire electrical system 12 V?

12 volts. If you put a 6 volt bulb in there, it will blow almost immediately. Most likely, it takes an 1157 bulb.

Make sure you have a good ground and the socket is clean.

There are many things on those Imperials that are different from other C-body cars, BUT the charging system should be ONE voltage. I also suspect those turn signal bulbs should be AMBER and not clear. Probably on the order of something like a 1157NA bulb?

Free-download a 1968 Chrysler factory service manual at www.mymopar.com and check the bulb usage specs in that manual. Should be a page listing what bulbs go where. At that time, might be a prior-to-1157 or 1156 spec bulb?

You ALSO realize that you'll probably need a "load" resistor so your thermal flasher will work correctly? Unless the individual LED bulbs have then already in them. Or upgrade the thermal flasher to an electronic version.

LED bulbs need to be clocked in the right direction to work sometimes. If it's not working, take the bulb out and turn it 180 degrees and see if it works.

Also, those lights may only work on the parking light setting - the first of the two detents in the headlight switch.

IF you actually had 6v bulbs in there, maybe there was so much corrosion/ resistance in the circuit that 6v's were the only thing that would light up...start with a test light and or voltmeter...
