i recently purchased a 1970 fury II with a slant 6, i would like to convert it to big block what do i need to acquire to complete the swap. i am familiar with the A&B body mopars but this is my first time messing with a c-body i'm mostly worried about the motor/frame mounts. are they different? what im talking about is the mount welded to the frame are they the same from slant 6 to big block?

Hey there,

Is this the car that was for sale in Maryland, with manual 'box? 1970 Fury II 2-Door Sedan? Looked like a nice solid car, nice blue colour too.

Plenty of discussion on this before, lots of great knowledge on this site. Basically the answer is no, Slant 6 stub-frame different to V8.

As he said above...

I did it and the VERY abbreviated version is that I torched a set of mounts off of a Challenger K-frame and MADE them work on the Fury /6 stub frame.
How are your fabrication from scratch skills?

I just reread that entire thread and I just realized we never did find out how the previous owner bolted in that BB into the /6 stub frame.

look to the right on the advertisement side of your computer and you will find engine swaps . if they cant help then do like stan says and get out the torch or you could just tweek the old slant and really blow peoples minds when you pop the hood. super six it. dual exhaust it with nice loud cherry bombs and have fun. thats what i would do. go to fabo and ask slant six dan how to make a slant go if you go that route. have fun

Then you end up sand blasting the stub, painting it, rebuilding the front end, putting in new torsion bars, a Firm Feel steering box......
:D

You should probably change out torsion bars anyway if your going to a bb.

Personally I'd make the leanin' tower of power all kinda eye candied up and shock all the troupz that walked by it at the show! Simple stuff like split exhaust, 3 side draft Weberz, Offenhauser cast aluminum rocker cover, and stuff the goodyz in that slant to make that Plymouth HAUL ***. Folkz respect fine work 'specially when it'z done well, Out of the box thinkin' iz ah thumbz up bonus. Just IMO, Jer

The XNR had a 250 hp 170 slanty, it can be done, and probably for half the amount of work you'd have to do to get that BB in there.

I've read articles where guys build the slant 6 to 300-350 hp I don't know the longevity rate of that thought. The parts to soup up them are also more difficult to find. You'll never build a slant 6 to 440 specs without ether blowing a budget, or using highly modified salvage yard parts. Yes it's not as common to see a row of slant 6 c body's...

I think I would enjoy the shock value. For that, I WOULD keep the hood up, sit about 20-30 ft away, and enjoy watching the crowd as they walk by, look, walk a few more feet, think WTF, and then go back to look again.
