@65MonacoND there is your black console.. maybe some sheetmetal as well
Lol I would hate to chop that one up. Kind of cool in its own right.
I hope to score a four door like I did last time that was solid, but bad interior, no transmission or engine and no title. I don’t mind hacking away on those in that condition.

I wouldn’t get super excited. It’s rusty in the trunk floor, extensions and quarters. Every piece of rubber or vinyl need replaced and it’s a tired 318. Rare color but color doesn’t matter on a parts car.

Those are all things that are replaceable without a huge amount of work.
If it is a factory "Deep Purple" car,it's likely one of the few that are left and likely the only one with the buckets/console setup. It's a very savable car,IMO.

I wish someone would buy this before I do

Here's the tag. It is a mood indigo car.

that'd be me .. IF, in this order,

I could (1) see fender tag (PRESTO, appeared as I typed), (2) see how bad floors/quarters are, (3) ask politely and then wire azblackhemi a grand, plus transportation from phoenix to wonderful waddell, plus storage, if he could grab it and hold it a month for me :)-) -- no pressure boss seriously) , and then i'd ship it to my NY storage building (i am working on the teal '68 Imp right now) for a winter 2019-2020 project.

it would get one of my 512's we built last year, and white letter tires with the 15x8 and 15x10 road wheels i had made, so be warned :) .. other than that i wouldnt change anything else .

thats the plan anyway .. but this thing might be gone before end of day.

say, anybody post a pic of what this car (in any color) would look like done? from 1971 brochure (dunno the color here). Is this car sorta supposed to look like this? Hideaway headlights? Vinyl roof too?

thats a FACTORY SHOW CAR!

Where do you see that? From the "M" in the order number on the tag?

edit: Y16 indicates a Sales Bank car but being it was such an early build it was probably loaded out and expected to be a showroom car for the dealer who buys it.
I also seem to recall seeing hearing that some cars destined for car show circuit duty were coded that way so they would be available to dealers after their show car days were over rather than being sent back to the factory for a different fate.

SBD is Aug 8,1970 which is a Saturday.I wonder if that was the first day of production for the 71 MY ?
It would be interesting to see a build sheet if there's one hiding somewhere in that car.It might give a few more clues about it's intended use.

edit 2:I found the info about the "M" code in the order number posted here on FCBO by ph23vo on one of the 71 SFGT threads. This car was built as a promo/show car.

Its also an N95 car (California emissions), so maybe it was destined to the Los Angeles Auto Show that takes place late in the year during introduction of next years' models. Very worth saving in any case. I have never seen another one in this color in real life, and with these options, despite the 318, it would be a real looker. Hmmmmm.................

The show cars got coded for Y16 because they hit the sales bank when Chrysler was done with them.
I know of a Mood Indigo 71 Sport Fury GT in the Seattle area. Used to drive by it all the time in Woodinville, owner has it in a garage now. Haven't seen it in a few years.

M45 Fenderskirts on a sport fury is also very rare.. Weird looking but rare, probably super hard to get your hands on, they seem to be missing in the pictures

Lest we not forget the Mood Indigo SFGT that noted Mopar "hero" Harold Sullivan brought up from Florida. It had black stripes/white interior. He removed the drivetrain in the late 90s for a date-correct block, because the world cannot have another '71 GTX without a HP-stamped 440.

Barf.

I had the chance to buy the carcass around '97, but passed because I hadn't yet closed on my first house and had nowhere to keep it. These cars weren't even known outside of the C-body crowd back then.

If anyone is seriously interested in this car shoot me a PM. I'm going to try to go see it this afternoon. I don't need another project so I don't want it but I'll help acquire it for any member here who wants it. I'll post pictures this evening.
