Hey I bet that Duster in the background about to have an upgrade with all those C-body parts...
Good call... but IDK what he's doing with the spindles... I can't imagine they would bolt to an A body. :realcrazy:
Seems like he does have the paperwork. Now, getting him to reply is another matter so far................ :BangHead:
I really hope this happens... IMO you are this car's last hope right now.

Looking doubtful since he still hasn't responded to a couple emails I have sent him now. I have taught myself not to get too excited over Craigslist ads since half of them it seems are space cadets and are hard if not impossible to talk to. I wonder why they even bother to do a listing at times.

It could be dragged up on a flatbed that I would send out there to get it since it is only an hour away from me - I don't think it would hurt anything and it would ride on the rear part of the subframe and the underbody frame and not damage anything or I could put some dollies underneath the frame at 4 points and make it easier to pull up as well. I have done it several times in the past.

Bummer on no phone number in ad.

B-body thru 74 and A-body are shorter in height than c-body. Also, the axle is too wide for an A-body. If those were put on an A-body, it'd be a ghetto looking car.

Exchanged a brief email with the gentleman giving this away, sounds like it was still available as of Monday. Seemed like a nice fella, he mentioned that it's drivetrain was in the 1972 Dart Sport and a 1964 A100.

BTW Steve, not sure if you heard back from him? But for what it's worth I vouched for you as being a stand up guy...hope you guys are able to work something out.

Yes, indeed, it is going to happen. Getting some parts ready to put on it to get it rolling again. It isn't far away, so it is very doable. A very good body overall. Won't go to waste now! Thanks.

That is great! So glad to hear it's not being wasted, will be awaiting pics of it loaded up and the restoration thread

That car might have some soft trim parts I could use if you're just looking for a solid body... let me know. I'm planning on Spring Fling this April, so no shipping hassles.

Will post some photos when I get it home. Not sure of his timing yet. Keep in touch.

Glad he finally responded to your emails!

Saved a great looking car.

If he says why he stripped out axle and front suspension, would be interesting to know. IOW, did he part the car and sell the body?

He used the parts for his Dart Sport and A100 truck. He took only the rotors and calipers from the front and the differential and axle shafts from the rear along with the driveshaft. The suspension including the spindles is still there and so is the 8 3/4 axle housing.

That's a lucky break.

With the parts available for a small block Mopar in 2018, I think anyone swapping a BB into an A body is a fool. But whatever... at least he offered up the body.

Wonderful news! I'm glad it's more complete than what I could see.

I surprised that anything fit the Dart, although I once had 8 3/4 axles from a 73 pickup cut down and resplined, so they would fit a 68 Dart. It was part of converting the Dart to 4 1/2" x 5 lug pattern.

Any updates Steve? Was hoping to see more pictures of this in your possession.

This was a very strange experience. After getting everything agreed upon except for setting a pick up time, never heard from him again, and the listing is still up as I write this. I also offered to pay him for the car, as I felt that would only be right since he wanted to save it from being destroyed. Another guy I know also tried to contact him to no avail either. Hope it doesn't get destroyed - that would be a shame.

Who knows, maybe Carmine snagged it instead with a really good offer so he could resurrect his burned 72 Monaco - I think one of his posts said he was coming to Spring Fling next weekend? :poke:

Dang, that's a bummer.

This reinforces your mantra that there are very few reliable vehicle transactions to be had in the USA. Even if free.

Did you get the location? If so, then just show up, take it, and leave a thank you card in its place with a $50 gift certificate for Vato Zone, lol...

All I know specifically John is that it is in Santa Clarita - he never provided an address or phone number so I could ever follow up. He said he was having financial difficulties and as a result lost his phone, but he seemed to have computer access from some source. Maybe he lost that too. Given his financial woes, that I why I offered to pay him for the car, as I felt he could use it and deserved to get something reasonable for it. So maybe something happened to prevent him from following through. He seemed like a pretty cool guy when going back and forth with emails and was very responsive to providing me with follow up photos I requested. There is still a chance it could happen, but I will be fine if not. I could just save another car worth saving if I could get it, but it won't be the end of the world. As you well know from your recent visit with Katy, I am pretty well stocked with cars!

That's a bummer. I've learned my lesson. Be persistent and dont walk away and expect the car to be there. Hope it got saved...

I never walked away and was as persistent as was reasonable. He said it was mine. When I followed up a couple days later, no further response or to additional emails either. There were some 20 emails back and forth including additional photos he sent me. Again, he was a very good guy to work with and then something happend. I hope he is OK in any case.

That's a bummer. My 71 Monaco almost went that way.
